Job Title: Head Project - Transmission Business Location: Ahmedabad Role Purpose The Head - Projects is responsible for the strategic planning, execution, and commissioning of transmission projects within AESL, ensuring alignment with the organization’s goals of operational excellence, cost efficiency, and timely delivery. This role is pivotal in driving AESL’s mission to revolutionize energy delivery through innovative solutions, including smart metering and green power integration. The incumbent will lead cross-functional teams, foster a culture of safety and quality, and build strong relationships with government authorities to ensure seamless project execution. Key Responsibilities: • Develop and implement comprehensive project plans, incorporating industry benchmarks, alternative strategies, and contingency measures to ensure project success. • Drive the execution of transmission projects by monitoring progress against cost, resource, and timeline benchmarks, ensuring adherence to quality standards. • Achieve project milestones within approved budgets and timelines by effectively managing financial and operational resources. • Standardize project management processes across locations by implementing robust systems and tools to ensure consistent execution. • Facilitate project start-up activities, including the creation of tailored project organograms, alignment of capex plans, contract agreements, and mobilization schedules. • Foster a culture of safety by enforcing stringent safety protocols and creating a secure work environment for employees and contractors. • Build and maintain strong relationships with government authorities, including ROW, state administration, police, and forest departments, to secure necessary clearances and approvals. • Conduct regular reviews with engineering and EPC teams to align on project goals, resolve issues, and monitor progress. • Oversee cash flow and cost control measures, ensuring alignment with financial goals and maintaining project financial efficiency. • Implement a robust risk management framework to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate potential project risks. • Drive technological innovation by integrating advanced tools and systems to enhance project efficiency and data management. • Lead and mentor project teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven environment while promoting continuous learning and development. Required Qualifications & Experience: • Proven experience of 20-25 years in project management within the power or transmission sector, with a strong focus on large-scale project planning and execution. • Demonstrated expertise in enforcing safety and quality standards, with experience overseeing EPC contractors. • Strong background in engaging with government authorities, regulatory bodies, and local administrations to facilitate project approvals and clearances. Educational Background: • B.E./B.Tech. in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering. • MBA or equivalent advanced degree is preferred. Years & Type of Experience: • 20+ years of experience in large-scale EPC project execution within the power transmission sector. • Extensive experience in managing cross-functional teams and driving projects to successful completion within budget and timeline constraints. Domain Expertise • In-depth knowledge of power transmission systems, including design, construction, and commissioning. • Familiarity with industry standards and best practices in project management and safety compliance. • Expertise in managing ROW issues, securing forest clearances, and addressing legal and regulatory concerns. Digital & Operational Tools • Proficiency in project management software and tools such as Primavera, MS Project, or equivalent. • Familiarity with digital platforms for risk management, data analytics, and reporting. • Experience with advanced technological tools for process optimization and data management in project execution. Leadership Capabilities • Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and results-driven culture. • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with a track record of building and maintaining relationships with government authorities and regulatory bodies. • Demonstrated success in managing large-scale budgets and achieving financial efficiency in project execution. • Strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement. Project Management Expertise: • The Head - Projects must possess exceptional project management skills to ensure the successful planning, commissioning, and execution of large-scale transmission projects. This includes the ability to develop and implement project plans, monitor progress against benchmarks, and achieve milestones within approved budgets and timelines. Given AESL's extensive transmission network and its strategic focus on efficiency and innovation, this expertise is critical to maintaining the company’s leadership in the energy sector. 2. Stakeholder and Liaison Management: • Building and maintaining strong relationships with government authorities, utilities, and other external stakeholders is essential for the smooth execution of projects. The role requires effective engagement with entities such as ROW, state administration, police, and forest departments to secure necessary clearances and approvals. This aligns with AESL’s strategic priority of ensuring regulatory compliance and fostering collaboration to drive project success. 3. Team Leadership and Development: • Strong leadership skills are non-negotiable for fostering a collaborative and results-driven team environment. The Head - Projects must guide and mentor team members, resolve conflicts, and promote continuous learning to enhance team capabilities. This is vital for achieving operational and financial targets while ensuring succession planning and structured goal-setting, which are crucial for AESL’s long-term growth and sustainability
