Job Summary:

We are looking for an experienced PostgreSQL DBA cum Developer with strong expertise in managing, developing, and optimizing PostgreSQL databases in Linux / openSUSE environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with advanced PostgreSQL tools such as TimescaleDB and PostgreSQL toolkits, ensuring high performance, availability, and scalability of critical database systems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Install, configure, and manage PostgreSQL databases in Linux/openSUSE environments.
- Design, develop, and optimize database schemas, queries, functions, and stored procedures.
- Implement TimescaleDB for handling time-series data and ensure optimal performance.
- Utilize PostgreSQL toolkits and extensions for monitoring, optimization, and automation.
- Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing strategies.
- Ensure database security, backup, recovery, and high availability (HA/DR) strategies.
- Monitor and troubleshoot database performance and replication issues.
- Collaborate with application developers for efficient database design and integration.
- Plan and execute database upgrades, migrations, and patch management.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation, SOPs, and technical guides.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

- Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA and Developer.
- Strong expertise in PostgreSQL administration & development.
- Proficiency in working on Linux/openSUSE environments.
- Hands-on experience with TimescaleDB for time-series data management.
- Knowledge of PostgreSQL toolkits and extensions for monitoring and optimization.
- Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and partitioning.
- Strong knowledge of backup & recovery tools, replication, and clustering.
- Familiarity with scripting (Shell/Python) for automation.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Good to Have:

- Exposure to cloud environments (AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure PostgreSQL, GCP Cloud SQL).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for databases.
- Knowledge of monitoring tools like pgAdmin, Prometheus, Grafana.
