Our vision for the future is based on the idea that transforming financial lives starts by giving our people the freedom to transform their own We have a flexible work environment and fluid career paths We not only encourage but celebrate internal mobility We also recognize the importance of purpose well-being and work-life balance Within Empower and our communities we work hard to create a welcoming and inclusive environment and our associates dedicate thousands of hours to volunteering for causes that matter most to them Chart your own path and grow your career while helping more customers achieve financial freedom Empower Yourself Responsible for overseeing and reviewing U S GAAP IFRS regulatory tax and or Board financial reporting for investment portfolios of the Insurance Company subsidiaries and affiliates Requires a thorough understanding of accounting pronouncements and appropriate application to the investment portfolio Additional DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assists with the investment reporting function for U S and Canadian GAAP regulatory tax and or board requirements of the Insurance Company subsidiaries and affiliates by reviewing work produced by Empower India associates Coordinates with US management regarding assignments and gains an understanding of requirements Ensures procedures are written Trains team on assignment requirements Ensures reporting consistency in the financial statements board reports and information provided to analysts Will review the financial statement information prepared and ensure accuracy and completeness of the report Ensures deadlines are met Proposes new disclosures and modifications to reports in response to new pronouncements and guidelines Assists with creation of new disclosures related to new investment types Will oversee and review information produced for audits of Investments Responsible for understanding the investment reporting database and making reporting adjustments where necessary Reviews or prepares analytic analysis of financial results Responds to ad-hoc reporting requests requiring interpretation of requests professional formatting and explanation of results May prepares related journal entries and reconciliations for accounts Executes internal controls and completes proper evidence of execution Performs duties inherent in a managerial role Conducts performance reviews approves requests for vacation PAL manages performance issues and has hire fire authority Trains coaches mentors and directs the work of direct reports Will plan and determine staff reorganization necessary to accommodate fluctuations in work flow or staff absences Other duties as assigned EDUCATION Bachelor s Degree in Accounting or Finance OTHER PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 6-8 years of Big Four financial reporting experience required CPA preferred Advanced Excel skills MS Access skills preferred Excellent problem solving skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Ability to independently manage department workload and proactively identify improvements as necessary We are an equal opportunity employer with a commitment to diversity All individuals regardless of personal characteristics are encouraged to apply All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age race color national origin ancestry sex sexual orientation gender gender identity gender expression marital status pregnancy religion physical or mental disability military or veteran status genetic information or any other status protected by applicable state or local law
