Job Role: Librarian / Deputy Librarian / Assistant Librarian.

Education Qualification:

- Librarian - B.L.I.S with M.L.I.S & Ph.D. in Library Science Mandatory
- Deputy Librarian - B.L.I.S with M.L.I.S & Ph.D. in Library Science Mandatory
- Assistant Librarian – B.L.I.S with M.L.I.S Good knowledge of MS-Office.

Role overview:

The Chief Librarian serves as the head of the university’s library system, responsible for providing strategic leadership, policy direction, and operational management of library services.

The role involves overseeing both physical and digital collections, integrating modern technologies, and ensuring that the library effectively supports teaching, learning, and research across the institution.

They also ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards (UGC, NAAC, NBA, etc.) and collaborate with faculty, researchers, and external networks to position the library as the intellectual and digital knowledge hub of the university.

Roles and Responsibility

- Oversee library policies, procedures, and guidelines in alignment with institutional goals.
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate library staff, ensuring effective team performance and professional development.
- Prepare and manage the annual budget for library operations, acquisitions, and digital resources.
- Plan, acquire, and maintain print, digital, and multimedia resources to meet the academic and research needs of students, faculty, and researchers.
- Negotiate with publishers, vendors, and consortia for subscriptions, e-resources, and databases.
- Implement and manage digital library services, including e-books, e-journals, and institutional repositories.
- Oversee the adoption of modern library technologies such as Library Management Systems (LMS), KOHA, RFID, Remote Access Tools, and Discovery Services.
- Stay updated on emerging trends in library automation, AI in libraries, and digital learning tools.
- Collaborate with faculty to support teaching, curriculum development, and research activities. Conduct orientation programs, workshops, and training sessions on information literacy, citation tools, and research databases.
- Assist researchers in literature reviews, reference management, plagiarism detection tools, and open-access publishing.
- Ensure compliance with UGC, NAAC, NBA, and other accreditation/regulatory requirements related to library standards.
- Maintain detailed documentation and reports for inspections and audits.
- Establish policies for copyright, licensing, and ethical use of information resources.
