Job Purpose To provide mechanical engineering expertise for the design installation operation and maintenance of Tunnel Boring Machines TBM on underground construction projects Key Responsibilities TBM Design and Engineering Contribute to the design and engineering of TBM systems including cutterheads grippers thrust blocks and hydraulic systems Conduct technical evaluations of TBM proposals from various manufacturers Develop detailed engineering drawings and specifications for TBM components TBM Assembly and Commissioning Oversee the assembly and commissioning of the TBM ensuring adherence to manufacturer s guidelines and project specifications Coordinate with the electrical and control systems teams to ensure seamless integration of TBM components TBM Maintenance and Repair Develop and implement a comprehensive TBM maintenance plan Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement corrective actions Monitor the performance of TBM components and identify potential problems TBM Operations Provide technical support to the TBM operations team Analyze TBM performance data to identify areas for improvement Optimize TBM performance through modifications and upgrades Safety and Quality Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments Monitor quality control procedures to ensure the TBM operates efficiently and reliably Documentation and Reporting Maintain accurate records of TBM operations maintenance activities and performance data Prepare technical reports and presentations
