Our extensive experience encompasses, Bridges, station buildings, Depots, Earthwork & Track Works, Power Supply and Transmission, Signaling & Telecommunications, Rolling Stock, Utilities diversion and yard re-modelling etc. Our services cover the entire life cycle of the project implementation. Currently, we are bidding for Semi High Speed Rail projects across India. The position of Chief Structural Design Expert (Underground) is the key position in these BIDs. Missions/Main Duties: - Lead Geotechnical and Structural Integration: 🧱 Provide final technical approval for the structural systems of Tunnels, Underground Stations, and Cut-and-Cover Structures, ensuring the design is optimized based on detailed geotechnical investigations, rock/soil conditions, and groundwater management schemes. - Tunnel Lining and Station Box Design Authority: Serve as the technical authority for selecting and validating the primary (initial) and secondary (final) lining designs (e.g., precast segments, in-situ concrete) to withstand massive earth pressures, rock loads, and hydrostatic forces. This includes certifying designs for deep excavation support systems (e.g., diaphragm walls). - Seismic and Dynamic Load Analysis: Certify all structural designs against severe seismic events and the dynamic effects (vibration and air pressure transient loading) induced by semi-high-speed train movements, ensuring structural resilience and passenger comfort. - Interface Control and Proximity Structures: Manage and approve all structural interfaces between the civil works and other systems (Track, MEP, Tunnel Ventilation) and ensure the safe design of structures in close proximity to existing buildings and infrastructure, leading the technical review of ground movement and settlement predictions. - Design Review, Code Compliance, and Assurance: Establish the project's Structural Design Basis Report (DBR), define mandatory design codes, and lead the comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) and third-party Proof Checking process for all subsurface structural calculations, drawings, and specifications. - Value Engineering and Constructability for Underground Works: Drive Value Engineering studies focused on underground construction to maximize efficiency and minimize cost. Ensure all designs account for specialized construction methods (e.g., TBM methodology, sequential excavation method) to guarantee constructability and project timeline adherence. Profile/Skills: - Qualification: Graduate in Civil Engineering and Post Graduate in Structural Engineering with working knowledge of reading, writing and speaking in English - Minimum Experience: 25 years post minimum qualification in detailed structural designs in Infrastructure sub sector related to Transport & Logistics (Roads and bridges; Ports; Shipyards; Airport; Urban Public Transport; Railway terminal & stations; Railway track incl. electrical & signalling system, tunnels, viaducts, bridges) [additional marks for more experience in any Rail based Passenger Transit System*] - Relevant Experience: 15 years’ experience for Detailed structural design of underground stations and tunnel for the Rail Based Passenger Transit System as Structural Designer or equivalent position [additional marks for more experience; experience in position one level below allowed with less weightage] - Eligible Assignment**(see below): Must have experience of 1 Eligible Assignment as Detailed design consultancy services or Proof consultancy services of structural designs of Underground tunnel and stations having concourse and platform level for Metro Railway/Regional Railway/High Speed Railway Project as Structural Designer or equivalent position for a full-time continuous deployment period not less than 2 years [additional marks for more Eligible Assignments; less weightage for position one level below] *Rail-based Passenger Transit System shall mean - High Speed Transit System / Regional Rail Transit System (with operational speed of 160kmh and above) OR - Urban/Suburban/Intercity/Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) [excluding LRT with design PHPDT less than 20000/Tram/Monorail Systems] **Shall mean experience of working as a personnel of General Consultant / Project Management Consultant / Employer’s Personnel in a work / project in a Rail based Passenger Transit System with operational speed of 160 kmph or more comprising: - Construction of Civil structures (at-grade/elevated/underground) AND - Installation of Systems (Track, Rolling Stock, Traction & Power Supply, Signalling) Including Detailed Design or Proof checking of designs; Bid Process Management; Project and Interface Management; Construction Supervision and System Installations and Testing & Commissioning : We commit to put people who join us at the heart of improving transportation and urban infrastructure efficiency.
