Currently, we are bidding for Semi High Speed Rail projects across India. The position of Chief Track Expert is the key position in these BIDs Missions/Main Duties: - Permanent Way Design and Specification: Lead the detailed design and engineering of the permanent way (track structure), including the selection of components like rails, sleepers, fastenings, and ballast/slab track systems, ensuring they meet the technical requirements for semi-high speeds and high axle loads. - Geometric Alignment and Survey Control: Finalize the horizontal and vertical track alignment (geometric design) based on approved feasibility studies. Establish and maintain the high-precision survey control network to ensure the construction tolerances for high-speed operation are strictly achieved. - Track Construction and Quality Assurance (QA/QC): Oversee all phases of track construction, including formation, track laying, welding, and stressing. Implement and manage a rigorous Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program to verify that all materials and construction methods comply with national and international railway codes. - Integration of Special Trackwork: Direct the design and installation of special trackwork, such as switches, crossings (turnouts), and expansion joints, paying particular attention to their geometry and material specifications to ensure smooth and safe train movements at high speeds. - Track Maintenance Strategy (LCC): Develop the long-term track maintenance and renewal strategy (Life-Cycle Cost or LCC) and specify the mechanized maintenance equipment needed. Establish the track monitoring and inspection protocols to ensure long-term track safety and geometry standards. - Coordination and Technical Compliance: Coordinate with other disciplines (Civil, Bridge, Signaling, OHE) to ensure seamless interface design. Ensure all track designs and construction practices strictly comply with the relevant Railway Permanent Way Manuals and safety regulations. Profile/Skills: - Qualification: Graduate in Engineering with working knowledge of reading, writing and speaking in English [additional marks for PG in Engineering] - Minimum Experience: 20 years post minimum qualification in any Rail based Passenger Transit system [additional marks for more experience in any Rail based Passenger Transit system*] - Relevant Experience: 10 years’ experience for Design or Installation of Ballast-less Track system including Track Alignment for MRTS /Regional Rail /High Speed Rail as Chief Track Expert or equivalent position [additional marks for more experience; experience in position one level below allowed with less weightage] - Eligible Assignment**(see below): Must have experience of 1 Eligible Assignment as Chief Track Expert or equivalent position full-time continuous deployment of not less than 2 years [additional marks for more Eligible Assignments; less weightage for position one level below] *Rail-based Passenger Transit System shall mean - High Speed Transit System / Regional Rail Transit System (with operational speed of 160kmh and above) OR - Urban/Suburban/Intercity/Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS) [excluding LRT with design PHPDT less than 20000/Tram/Monorail Systems] **Shall mean experience of working as a personnel of General Consultant / Project Management Consultant / Employer’s Personnel in a work / project in a Rail based Passenger Transit System with operational speed of 80 kmph or more comprising: - Construction of Civil structures (at-grade/elevated/underground) AND - Installation of Systems (Track, Rolling Stock, Traction & Power Supply, Signalling) Including Detailed Design or Proof checking of designs; Bid Process Management; Project and Interface Management; Construction Supervision and System Installations and Testing & Commissioning : We commit to put people who join us at the heart of improving transportation and urban infrastructure efficiency.
