Role Overview We're seeking an exceptional Engineering Manager to lead our data engineering team in architecting and scaling enterprise-grade data platforms. This is a high-impact role where you'll drive technical strategy, lead a team of 8-10 talented data engineers, and directly shape how our Fortune 500 clients unlock the value of their data at scale. You'll work on sophisticated challenges spanning data mesh architectures, semantic layers, real-time data integration, and self-service analyticsall while building and mentoring a world-class engineering team. Key Responsibilities - Lead & Inspire - Manage and grow a team of 8-10 data engineers, providing mentorship, career development, and technical guidance - Foster a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous learning - Build and retain top talent while establishing clear career paths and growth opportunities - Architect & Execute - Drive the design and implementation of modern data platforms using data lake and data mesh architectures - Define data architecture strategies that align technical solutions with business objectives across multiple Fortune 500 clients - Oversee the development of semantic layers, data models, and transformation workflows using tools like Dremio, dbt, and modern orchestration frameworks - Make critical build-versus-buy decisions and evaluate emerging technologies to optimize cost and performance - Deliver Excellence - Establish engineering best practices including DataOps, CI/CD for data pipelines, and comprehensive code review processes - Ensure data quality, security, governance, and compliance across all platforms and pipelines - Lead the integration of 35+ data sources including Salesforce, enterprise systems, and compliance tools into unified data platforms - Drive the adoption of self-service analytics capabilities and data democratization initiatives - Collaborate & Influence - Partner with data scientists, analysts, product managers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions - Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to non-technical executives and stakeholders - Manage vendor relationships and cross-functional dependencies across multiple concurrent projects What You Bring Required Experience - 8-10 years of progressive experience in data engineering with demonstrated technical depth - 3+ years in people management or technical leadership roles with proven success building high-performing teams - Hands-on experience architecting and implementing data lakes or data mesh architectures at enterprise scale, supporting multiple business units and complex use cases Technical Expertise - Cloud Data Platforms: Production experience with at least one of Snowflake, Databricks, Dremio, or Starburst. - Data Pipeline Engineering: Proficiency with dbt, Airflow, or similar orchestration tools; strong understanding of ETL/ELT design patterns and best practices - Distributed Computing: Experience with Apache Spark or similar frameworks - Programming: Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python, Scala, or Java - Data Modeling: Deep knowledge of dimensional modeling, data vault, normalized schemas, and modern lakehouse patterns - Governance & Security: Understanding of data governance frameworks, compliance requirements (GDPR, CCPA, etc.), and security best practices Leadership Skills - Proven track record of recruiting, developing, and retaining engineering talent - Excellent communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels - Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously in fast-paced, client-facing environments - Strategic thinking combined with hands-on technical problem-solving abilities This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead and scale mission-critical data infrastructure at Nuaav, a firm known for its boutique approach combining technical mastery with personalized client impact and agility in delivery.
