Supervision of Housekeeping Staff: Lead, supervise, and coordinate the activities of the housekeeping team including attendants, cleaners, and support staff. Assign daily duties and responsibilities to staff based on operational needs and manpower availability. Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, discipline, and adherence to uniforms and grooming standards. Train new housekeeping staff on cleaning protocols, safety measures, and hospital procedures. 2. Maintenance of Cleanliness Standards: Ensure all patient rooms, ICUs, OPDs, corridors, waiting areas, washrooms, and other hospital areas are kept clean and sanitized at all times. Conduct regular rounds to inspect cleanliness, hygiene, and general upkeep of the facility. Ensure waste collection and segregation procedures are followed as per biomedical waste management rules. Monitor deep cleaning schedules and ensure they are carried out effectively, especially in high-risk areas like operation theatres and isolation wards. 3. Infection Control and Safety Compliance: Ensure all cleaning practices strictly follow hospital infection control protocols and safety guidelines. Ensure proper usage of disinfectants, cleaning agents, PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and tools by staff. Work closely with the infection control team to maintain compliance with NABH, JCI, or other accreditation standards. Monitor sanitation during outbreaks or pandemics and take extra precautions as required. 4. Stock and Inventory Management: Maintain records of housekeeping supplies including cleaning agents, disinfectants, gloves, mops, and tools. Coordinate with the purchase or stores department for timely requisition and procurement of materials. Ensure proper storage, distribution, and minimal wastage of housekeeping supplies. 5. Reporting and Documentation: Maintain daily checklists, inspection logs, and cleaning records. Prepare and submit shift-wise or daily reports to the housekeeping manager or hospital administration. Document and report any facility-related issues (plumbing, lighting, pest control, etc.) to the maintenance department for prompt action. 6. Staff Training and Development: Organize regular training sessions on topics such as infection control, waste disposal, fire safety, emergency cleaning procedures, and patient etiquette. Encourage and enforce best practices among team members to ensure continuous improvement. Evaluate staff performance and provide constructive feedback. 7. Coordination with Other Departments: Work closely with nursing, patient care, and administrative departments to respond to housekeeping requests in a timely manner. Coordinate cleaning of operation theatres, wards, and emergency rooms based on hospital workflow and schedules. Attend departmental meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives. 8. Emergency and Special Situations Handling: Be prepared to mobilize the team during emergencies like patient spills, biohazard cleanup, or emergency admissions.
