Job Title Manager - Surface Finishing Electroplating Lacquer Grinding Polishing PVD Division Company Entity SMI Location Jamnagar Shree Mahavir Industries Department Production Surface Finishing Reports to Manufacturing Head Does this job have supervisory responsibilities Yes Number of reports 5 approximately Region of reports Jamnagar Position Summary The Manager - Surface finishing will be responsible for overseeing and managing the Grinding Polishing Electroplating Lacquer operations This position requires a strong understanding and hands on work experience in Grinding Polishing electroplating Electrophoretic lacquer PVD processes on Brass Zinc SS material Should have good understanding of Equipment and troubleshooting techniques for these processes as well as excellent management and leadership skills The Manager - Surface Finishing will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure production goals quality standards and safety environment regulations are met Roles and Responsibilities Lead and manage the Grinding Polishing electroplating and electrophoretic lacquer department ensuring smooth operations and adherence to production schedules To ensure daily weekly and monthly production targets are met To improve all the surface finishing processes and implement procedures to improve quality standards and customer requirements To oversee the maintenance and troubleshooting of electroplating and electrophoretic lacquer equipment to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance To Monitor and analyze production data quality data to ensure product quality and compliance with specifications To Review and update standard operating procedures safety protocols and regulatory compliance documentation to maintain a safe and compliant work environment To Train and mentor electroplating Lacquer Grinding Polishing technicians on new techniques safety procedures equipment operations etc To Manage inventory of Consumables chemicals and critical components in Surface finishing departments To Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to team members identifying areas for improvement and facilitating their professional growth To Stay updated on industry trends technological advancements and best practices in electroplating implementing innovations as appropriate Skills Abilities Required Strong knowledge of Electroplating Electrophoretic lacquer and Grinding Polishing techniques for various metals such as Brass zinc SS and copper Knowledge of PVD will be added advantage Experience in Automatic Electroplating plants will be preferred Ability to troubleshoot electroplating equipment issues and handle maintenance activities Excellent leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate a team of technicians Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify process improvement opportunities and address quality-related issues Knowledge of safety regulations hazardous waste management and environmental compliance applicable to Surface finishing operations Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide clear instructions to team members Good Analytical skill Education Qualification Experience required Bachelor s degree in mechanical engineering chemistry Materials Science Chemical Engineering or related technical field Minimum 15 years of experience in managing Polishing electroplating lacquering operations Note This job description is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities Rather it is intended only to describe the general nature of the job Employee may be expected to perform other related duties as required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization We are the ASSA ABLOY Group Our people have made us the global leader in access solutions In return we open doors for them wherever they go With nearly 63 000 colleagues in more than 70 different countries we help billions of people experience a more open world Our innovations make all sorts of spaces - physical and virtual - safer more secure and easier to access As an employer we value results - not titles or backgrounds We empower our people to build their career around their aspirations and our ambitions - supporting them with regular feedback training and development opportunities Our colleagues think broadly about where they can make the most impact and we encourage them to grow their role locally regionally or even internationally As we welcome new people on board it s important to us to have diverse inclusive teams and we value different perspectives and experiences
