Job Description Job Category: Project Research Staff Inventory Manager- Procurement About the project: The project funded by the Government focuses on developing and demonstrating drone and allied technologies. The project will address various applications through the utilization of advanced technologies and critical infrastructure. Strong industry connections and collaborations will be fostered to solve pertinent challenges and drive technological advancements. Additionally, comprehensive drone training and awareness programs will be provided to ensure proficiency and understanding among people. Institute: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Mumbai Qualification and Key Skills Required: - MTech / ME or equivalent degree with relevant experience OR - BTech / BE/BSC or equivalent degree in Mechanical / Industrial / Production / Supply Chain or relevant discipline with relevant experience - Minimum 35 years of relevant experience in procurement, inventory, and supply chain management - Proven experience in sourcing, supplier evaluation, vendor development, and contract negotiation - In-depth understanding of procurement strategies, cost control, and risk mitigation practices - Proficiency in SAP (MM Module), AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Catia, and MS OAice Suite - Strong negotiation, communication, and analytical skills - Experience in handling technical specifications for engineering and drone-related components - Knowledge of import/export documentation and regulatory compliance - Certification in supply chain or procurement (e.g., CSCP, CPSM) is a plus Job Profile: Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project requirements and budgetary constraints Identify cost-saving opportunities and achieve optimal procurement outcomes through strategic sourcing Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and contractors Evaluate supplier performance and ensure compliance with quality and delivery standards Negotiate contracts and agreements, reviewing terms to mitigate risks and secure favorable terms Monitor procurement budgets and expenditures, implementing cost control measures Collaborate with project managers and technical teams to meet material and equipment needs Coordinate procurement schedules to ensure timely support for project milestones Ensure all procurement activities comply with legal and regulatory guidelines Identify potential risks in the supply chain and develop proactive mitigation strategies Lead and mentor the procurement/store team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement Support technical teams in sourcing and procuring components for UAVs, tools, and project-specific equipment Manage project-wise inventory planning, stock control, and documentation (vendor master, material master, inward/outward, consumption reports) Any other work assigned as per requirement
