Consultant Pathologist

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Consultant Pathologist to oversee, analyze, and ensure the accuracy of laboratory diagnostic services. The role involves both clinical and operational responsibilities including reporting, lab management, quality control, and coordination with clinicians.

Key Responsibilities:

- Perform and interpret tests in histopathology, cytology, hematology, clinical pathology, and biochemistry.
- Issue timely and accurate reports for biopsy, FNAC, PAP smears, and other diagnostic samples.
- Supervise and guide laboratory technicians and ensure adherence to SOPs.
- Maintain and monitor internal and external quality assurance programs.
- Collaborate with clinicians and specialists for case discussions and diagnostic planning.
- Ensure compliance with NABL/NABH standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Oversee inventory, calibration of equipment, and overall lab operations.
- Support teaching and training of DMLT/technician staff (if applicable).

Key Requirements:

- MBBS + MD/DNB in Pathology
- Registered with MCI or State Medical Council
- Proficient in microscopy, grossing, staining techniques, and diagnostic decision-making
- Experience in working with laboratory information systems (LIS)
- Strong attention to detail and quality control
- Good interpersonal and communication skills for interdepartmental coordination

Preferred Qualifications:

- Subspecialty experience in Hematopathology, Histopathology, or Molecular Pathology
- Experience working in NABL/NABH-accredited labs
- Participation in audits, lab accreditation, or research publications is a plus
