Purpose of the Job

The Head of Business Development & Commercials with Engie plays a pivotal role in shaping the company's growth trajectory and commercial success in compliance with existing Business Development procedure, strategy, and Group's investment criteria in the geography.

It will involve finalising partnership structure in accordance with the group guidelines, finalise Land aggregation process for Solar projects

Key Accountabilities / Deliverables

- Negotiate commercial and technical aspects of contracts with clients and suppliers
- Thorough understanding of connectivity regulations, land acquisition and regulatory frameworks in select states and have experience of handling end-to-end Land acquisition
- Monitor regulatory compliance and manage commercial risks
- In-depth knowledge of land laws and connectivity regulations in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu etc.
- In-depth knowledge of project development processes, including site selection, permitting, and construction within the solar / wind / other RE projects.
- Effective communication and negotiation abilities to work with stakeholders at all levels
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build positive relationships with external stakeholders;
- Willingness to extensively travel and temporarily base within the assigned regions to ensure timely aggregation of targeted land parcels.

Strategic

- Lead a team of developers in business development activities in renewables together with a team handling related commercial functions like procurement and pre development activities including site permitting.
- Maintain in depth knowledge of all ongoing Business Development activities and regulatory space in India through active engagement with various stakeholders in the country
- Coordinate the production of Business Development documentation
- Attend different investment committees in the region to create the buy-in for the projects being developed in India
- Selection and high-level management of partners, contractors, customers, off-takers, regulators, suppliers, and other project stakeholders
- Organize local Business Development meetings to create a community
- Internal documentation and approvals of projects

- Ensure compliance and contribute to the smooth approval process
- Review, validate and signoff all Business Development projects documentation
- Present and defend project on behalf of India at AMEA and Group level
- Post FC or close of acquisition, organize handover
- Analyze and present business/project loss case and draw conclusions and learning for future. development

Operational

- Deliver on the renewable growth objectives assigned for India
- Identify, screen and evaluate Business Development opportunities
- Undertake pre development activities leading to successful origination
- Actively monitor regulatory space to capture evolving opportunities beyond large scale auctions
- Supervise business development activities
- Lead preparation and presentation of Business Development documentation in various Business Development meetings
- Ensure attendance of self and Business Development team in all Business Development related activities in India
- Incorporation of feedback from projects under implementation
- Contribute to preparation of periodic lookbacks
- Organize Business Development meetings to perform reviews
- Schedule and maintain periodic communication with Head of Business Development -AMEA, on all India Business Development activities

- Contribute to preparation of periodic lookbacks
- Organize and have Business Development meetings to perform reviews
- Ensure timely and adequate reporting at AMEA and at Group level
- Organize and follow up ad-hoc audits
- Build a strong and cohesive leadership team and maintain a high-performance culture

- Build company image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees, enforcing ethical business practices

Planning & Delivery of Work

- Contribute to the yearly budget development plan (CAPEX, manpower and development budget)
- Plan and organize work to meet individual, team and departmental objectives whilst achieving quality and value for money
- Deliver key objectives and obtain and allocate resources
- Lead by example in managing business relationships and project / program risks
- Define a balanced set of targets and measures aligned with delivery plans

- Develop relationships with partner/stakeholders ensuring that Engie India is a respected customer and provider

Qualifications

- Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance or Engineering
- MBA preferred
