Job Description; We are seeking an experienced and innovative Senior Hardware Engineer to join our team developing cutting-edge sensor systems for advanced motion intelligence and safety applications. The ideal candidate is an electronics enthusiast with a maker's mindset, combining strong technical skills with creativity and a passion for exploring new possibilities. Key Responsibilities; Hardware Design And Development: Quickly prototype ideas, demonstrating the ability to figure out requirements and get things done efficiently. Design and implement complex circuit layouts, ensuring proper connections and signal routing. Develop efficient component placement strategies to minimize board size and optimize signal integrity. Create sophisticated PCB designs for 2-layer, 4-layer and 8-layer boards, optimizing layouts for performance and size. Low-Power Electronics: Specialize in designing ultra-low-power circuits for battery-operated devices. Implement power management techniques to extend battery life in sensor systems. Optimize sleep modes and power cycling for various components. Antenna And Communication Systems: Design and integrate antennas for various wireless protocols (e.g., Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular, NFC, LTE). Optimize antenna performance within the constraints of compact safety equipment. Implement and optimize various communication protocols including SPI, I2C, and UART. Sensor Integration And Signal Processing: Select and integrate appropriate sensors for motion detection, impact measurement, and environmental monitoring. Design sensor interfaces and signal conditioning circuits. Develop expertise in sensor data acquisition, conditioning, filtering, and processing. Firmware Development: Work with firmware for hardware and peripherals, supporting new product features. Collaborate with software engineers to ensure seamless hardware-software integration. Support and debug existing product firmware as needed. Prototyping And Testing: Build and test hardware prototypes, including PCB assembly and debugging. Conduct thorough testing of PCBs, including functional testing, environmental testing, and EMC/EMI compliance. Develop and execute test plans for hardware validation. Documentation And Collaboration: Create detailed hardware documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and assembly instructions. Collaborate closely with software engineers and application developers to create fully integrated products. Work with mechanical engineers to optimize product form factors. Continuous Improvement And Innovation: Stay updated on the latest advancements in hardware design, components, and manufacturing techniques. Contribute to the development of internal design standards and best practices. Explore and prototype new ideas, technologies, and designs to drive innovation. Qualifications; Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Communication, or related field. Preferred Qualifications; Experience with designing hardware for wearable or safety equipment. Familiarity with relevant safety standards and certifications (e.g., IP ratings, UL standards). Experience with 3D CAD software for mechanical integration of PCBs. Experience; 5+ years of experience in hardware design for embedded systems. Proven track record of successful PCB designs, from concept to production. Extensive experience with low-power design techniques for battery-operated devices. Hands-on experience with antenna design and integration in compact devices. Technical Skills; Proficiency in PCB design software (e.g., Altium Designer, KiCad, or Eagle). Strong understanding of digital and analog circuit design principles. Experience with wireless protocols (Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, cellular) and their hardware requirements. Familiarity with EMC/EMI design considerations and testing procedures. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and DFM (Design for Manufacturing) principles. Understanding of various hardware architectures (ARM, AVR, etc.). Experience with integrating LED strips and other visual feedback systems and with MEMS sensor technologies and their integration. Soft Skills; Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail. Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Creativity and innovation in approaching hardware design challenges. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Decrease PCB manufacturing costs by through optimized component selection and layout within the next two design cycles. Low-Power Design: Extend battery life of the current sensor system by 30% through improved power management techniques within 4 months. Reduce sleep mode power consumption by 50% in the next product release, to be completed within 6 months. Antenna And Communication Systems: Improve wireless range by 25% for Bluetooth communication in the next product iteration, to be completed within 5 months. Develop and integrate a new multi-protocol antenna design that supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and LTE in a single compact form factor within 8 months. Sensor Integration And Signal Processing: Increase motion detection accuracy by 15% through improved sensor integration and signal processing algorithms within 3 months. Reduce false positive rates in impact detection by 40% within the next two firmware updates, to be completed within 6 months. Firmware Development: Decrease firmware boot time by 30% in the next major firmware release, to be completed within 4 months. Implement over-the-air (OTA) firmware update capability with a 95% success rate within 6 months. Prototyping And Testing: Reduce prototype development time from concept to functional prototype by 25% over the next three projects. Achieve a 98% first-pass yield rate in EMC/EMI compliance testing for new designs within 9 months. Documentation And Collaboration: Implement a new documentation system that reduces time spent searching for information. Increase cross-functional collaboration efficiency by conducting bi-weekly integration meetings, resulting in a reduction in integration issues. Innovation And Continuous Improvement: Develop and present two new innovative hardware features for future products each quarter. File at least one patent application related to hardware innovations within the next 12 months.
