We enable your best to power our future. Job Description We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented L1 Storage and Backup Administrator to join our dynamic IT infrastructure team. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of hands-on experience in managing and maintaining storage and backup environments. This role is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our media storage, backup equipment, Storage Area Network (SAN), and Network Attached Storage (NAS) services. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the performance, availability, and security of our critical data. Key Responsibilities - Infrastructure Management: - Manage and maintain media storage, backup equipment and services, Storage Area Network (SAN) Fabric, and NAS services and clients. - Perform installation, racking, stacking, SAS/FC cabling, cable management, and labeling of storage hardware. - Install, upgrade, and manage both storage and backup infrastructures to ensure optimal performance. - Administer and troubleshoot NetApp AFF Clustered Data ONTAP (cDOT), Pure Storage, and other storage arrays. - Monitoring and Reporting: - Proactively monitor the health, performance, and availability of storage and backup systems. - Generate and analyze various backup and storage reports, identifying and addressing potential issues before they impact the business. - Document new storage installations, maintain and update existing storage configurations, and manage the asset management system. - Backup and Recovery: - Monitor daily backup jobs, troubleshoot failed backups, and perform data recovery operations as required. - Manage offsite tape vaulting procedures to ensure disaster recovery readiness. - Configure and manage backups for diverse environments including Oracle, SQL, Exchange, and NAS filers using NDMP. - Provisioning and Support: - Provision new storage, create FC LUNs, handle LUN mapping, and configure them on SAN clients. - Manage and troubleshoot NFS exports and CIFS shares. - Collaborate with internal application and service groups to understand their requirements and provide necessary storage and backup resources. - Provide effective first-level support for provisioning, installation, configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software. - Network and Fabric Management: - Manage and administer Brocade and Cisco fiber channel switches. - Handle Fibre Channel Fabric Management, including SAN zoning and the use of associated tools. Qualifications - Education: - A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - Experience: - 2-3 years of proven experience in managing storage and backup infrastructure and operational resources in an enterprise environment. - Hands-on experience with Veritas NetBackup, including installation, configuration, and management of backup policies. - Demonstrable experience with NetApp storage systems is mandatory. - Experience in managing and monitoring NetBackup Appliances and Tape Libraries. - Technical Skills: - Strong understanding of SAN/NAS administration and troubleshooting with experience in storage systems such as NetApp, Pure Storage, and EMC. - Proficiency in managing and troubleshooting NetApp AFF Clustered Data ONTAP (cDOT). - Solid knowledge of managing Brocade and Cisco fiber channel switches and SAN zoning. - Experience with managing and troubleshooting NFS exports and CIFS shares. - Familiarity with backup and recovery of Oracle, SQL, Exchange, and NAS filers (NDMP). - Soft Skills: - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with various teams. - A proactive and detail-oriented approach to tasks. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. - A strong commitment to ensuring service performance meets and exceeds all system component SLAs through proactive monitoring and tuning.
