About the Role- Join our innovative functional wear startup (UpWear) as an Apparel Design and Development Intern. This hands-on internship is designed for a passionate, detail-oriented student or recent graduate interested in the intersection of fashion technology, performance fabrics, and modern apparel design for women. You will collaborate with our design and product leads to help take clothing from concept to construction. Participate in research for identifying customer needs, gathering feedback, and suggesting product improvements2. Support garment construction: stitching, sampling, fittings, and documentation of process3. Conduct research on market trends, competitor products, and design features in functional/performance apparel4. Document detailed notes on design specifications, pattern modifications, and sample evaluations5. Assist with fabric and accessories sourcing and selection, focusing on innovative and functional textiles6. Organize and catalog fabric swatches, design sketches, and samples for the design teamOther requirements-1. Prior academic exposure or coursework in apparel/fashion design or textile engineering2. Hands-on experience in stitching, fittings, or practical garment construction of knitted fabrics (even if only college projects)3. Interest in women’s functional wear or performance clothing4. Familiarity with design software (such as Adobe Illustrator or Photoshop) & pattern software is a plus5.
