Country Director – India, Top US University

Key Purpose of Role

The Country Director – India drives the university’s outreach, recruitment, engagement, and enrollment in India, developing and implementing strategies to increase graduate enrollments across a wide array of master's and professional programs, including fields such as business and management, engineering, computer science, data science, economics, law, communication and media, and public health. The position builds strong partnerships and ensures effective promotion of university offerings.

Principal Responsibilities

In collaboration with and under the direction of the university teams:

- Develop and execute market-specific recruitment strategies aligned with university goals.
- Collaborate with US-based university and school/college graduate enrollment teams to deliver successful outreach campaigns to meet enrollment targets.
- Report on market trends, provide detailed insights and enrollment forecasts, and recommend actions for ongoing improvement.
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with external partners including study abroad counselors, test prep organizations, event companies, universities, government agencies, and scholarship bodies.
- Organize and participate in recruitment activities: webinars, masterclasses, info sessions, tours, conversion events, student engagement sessions, and visa outcome tracking.
- Along with the relevant school/college, manage student inquiries, ensure timely communications and follow-ups throughout the recruitment funnel.
- Facilitate direct engagement with and leverage the university's Indian alumni network to support recruitment, mentorship, and yield activities.
- Support development and delivery of social media campaigns, digital marketing, and print publications in partnership with the university’s graduate enrollment and social media teams.

Required Skills and Competencies

- Proven ability to leverage in-depth, practical knowledge of India's graduate recruitment market—including key student motivators, competitor activities, and influential feeder institutions—to analyze and develop recruitment strategies focused on high-potential secondary (Tier 2 and Tier 3) cities for immediate market diversification and growth.
- In-depth knowledge of the U.S. graduate education market.
- Proven planning and organizational skills, with strong multitasking capability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to build cross-cultural relationships.
- Outstanding written and verbal English communication, reporting and analytical abilities.
- Proven track record in recruitment and direct student engagement at major university fairs and third-party events.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team in a results-driven environment.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- Track record of achieving student recruitment targets in a dynamic environment.
- High numerical literacy and strong critical thinking skills.
- Innovative problem-solving ability; able to meet targets within shifting priorities.
- Willingness to travel extensively for recruitment activities across India.
- Strong critical thinking skills

Desirable Qualifications

- Established network within India’s higher education and/or study abroad sector.
- Knowledge of international education markets, trends, and destinations.
- Experience evaluating recruitment outcomes and success metrics in a matrix structure.
