Job Description About the Role We are looking for a skilled Technical Writer with a strong engineering background and hands-on experience in creating defence technical publications. The ideal candidate must be well-versed with JSS 0251, JSS 0252, JSG 0852, and other Indian defence documentation standards. You will be responsible for preparing high-quality, accurate, and user-friendly technical manuals, maintenance documents, IETMs/IETPs, and training materials. Key Responsibilities - Develop, write, and edit technical manuals, maintenance manuals, operating instructions, IETMs, and training documents as per Indian defence standards. - Create documentation compliant with JSS 0251, JSG 0852, and other relevant military/defence norms. - Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, BOMs, and specifications to generate accurate and clear documentation. - Collaborate with engineering, design, QA, and project teams to gather technical information. - Ensure documentation follows standard templates, structure, and approved workflows. - Prepare content for illustrations, exploded views, and procedure-based documentation. - Review and update technical content based on feedback from SMEs and user trials. - Maintain version control and ensure compliance with security and confidentiality requirements. - Assist in developing multimedia content such as training presentations and CBT modules (if required). Required Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical, Electronics, or related discipline). - 37 years of experience in technical writing for defence/aerospace/mechanical systems. - Strong understanding of JSS and JSG documentation standards. - Experience with IETM Levels 24, XML/SGML tools, S1000D (added advantage). - Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, and technical specifications. - Excellent command over English technical writing and formatting standards. - Strong attention to detail, clarity, and accuracy. Preferred Skills - Experience with tools like MS Word, SnagIT, SolidWorks, or Isodraw. - Familiarity with defence procurement processes, QA standards, and maintenance philosophy. - Ability to create flowcharts, diagrams, and procedural graphics. - Knowledge of structured documentation and version control systems.
