Job Description

Job Context & Major Challenges

- Integrate inherit safe design into process development and innovation
- Partner with manufacturing team to identify technology enhancements in the existing asset base
- Aid in developing tools, models, methodology to plot a process technology pathway that meets corporate objectives
- Critical evaluation of external technology
- Aid in the development of R&D capital (lab, pilot, commercial) plans
- Develop strong working relationships with Manufacturing, Marietta and Taloja-based R&D staff
- Execution of Process Trials in our factories
- Aid in development of Intellectual Property strategy to support technology development plan

Principal Accountibilities

Technology development for current assets - 20%

- Gather and analyze plant data to identify improvement opportunities through technology deployment
- Aid in development of plant technology needs

Technology development for long term corporate objectives - 50%

- Aid in development of technology pathway to achieve long term objectives
- Develop tools and methodology to evaluate technology options, and identify gaps and opportunities space
- Aid in development of Intellectual Property strategy to support technology development plan

Health, Safety and Environmental - 15%

- Integrate inherit safe design into process development and innovation
- Create challenging safety-driven goals aligned to company vision

Technology Evaluation - 15

- Aid in development of tools, processes to critically evaluate technology for fit to Birla strategy

Knowledge

Possess demonstrated understanding and application of process focused engineering in an R&D laboratory/pilot-scale setting, as well as manufacturing process understanding.

- Bachelors to Masters Degree in an engineering discipline.
- 2+ years experience in an industrial/development lab/facility, R&D, or academic laboratory environment with increasing responsibilities, or preferably 2+ years experience in process development role
- Manufacturing experience is a plus
