We are seeking a skilled SQL Server database administrator minimum 3 years of hands-on experience The DBA position will be responsible for maintaining the companys database systems including back-up performance tuning capacity planning monitoring critical events and documentation The position will be required to work on numerous projects at the same time responding to various demands from different departments Responsibilities Overview Ensure all database servers are backed up in a way that meets the businesss Recovery Point Objectives RPO Test backups to ensure we can meet the business Recovery Time Objectives RTO Troubleshoot SQL Server service outages as they occur including after-hours and weekends Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms As new systems are brought in-house choose whether to use clustering log shipping mirroring Windows Azure or other technologies Install and configure new SQL Servers Deploy database change scripts provided by third party vendors When performance issues arise determine the most effective way to increase performance including hardware purchases server configuration changes or index query changes Document the companys database environment Create and manage multiple databases and assist in capacity planning Monitor maintain database systems and troubleshoot problems that may arise Maintain data integrity and security manage roles and permissions of database users Use tools like SQL Profiler for database tuning Generate traces execution plans Identify performance issues deadlocks contention and resolve them Develop strategies and implement solutions for managing back-ups restoration and replication Create and manage constraints and indexes Support software developers with database projects including the development of Complex SQL tuning of DML and the creation of stored procedures Proactive housekeeping archiving and shrinking of databases Manage production QA and development database environments Learn relevant business processes and understand the data flow criticality and Effectively coordinate and communicate with all the stakeholders internal teams and clients Set up and maintain database infrastructure for the companys BI needs Skills Attributes Required Excellent logical interpretation skills Ability to understand requirements and propose logical solutions in TSQL Analysis Services OLAP Services Backup Recovery Batch processing BCP Export Import Capacity planning redundancy design Clustering Always On Clustering Daily maintenance Database maintenance plans scheduling alerts DCL DDL DML Devices databases and logs design creation and updating Disaster Recovery Documentation - policies and procedures DTS Data Transformation Services Hardware RAID Indexing index statistics updating and index optimization Install Configure Upgrade Load balancing Logical design schema Migration Monitoring including DBCC Database Consistency Checking Network Windows OS OLAP Data warehousing OLTP Performance Tuning Optimization Physical design Powershell Query Optimization Reporting Services SSRS Scripting VBScript command batch WSH Security Management SSIS SQL T-SQL SQL Server architecture 2-tier 2xc2xbd-tier 3-tier other n-tier Stored procedures triggers constraints views Troubleshooting SQL Server licensing
