Head of Engineering

Job Description Location: Gurgaon Reports To: CTO Ginesys One Job Overview Ginesys is a Retail Tech Product company provides India's first retail suite with ERP, POS, OMS and WMS all under one umbrella to our 1200+ clients. Vision of Ginesys One is to have a full stack retail omnichannel suite offering a full spectrum of solutions specifically crafted for the retail value chain. This suite is comprised of various products and systems, each purpose-built to address distinct elements of retail operations and management. We are seeking a highly accomplished Head of Engineering to lead our engineering organization across multiple product lines. This leader will be responsible for building scalable, secure, and reliable SaaS products and platforms while driving architectural modernization, cross-product integration, and innovation. The role demands strong technical leadership, people management, and operational excellence, reporting directly to the CTO. This role is ideal for a seasoned engineering leader passionate about building scalable and reliable products in a fast-paced environment while fostering a culture of innovation, efficiency, and teamwork. Key Responsibilities Hands-On Technical Leadership - Actively contribute to code, design reviews, architecture decisions, and complex debugging. - Pair-program and coach engineers to improve velocity, quality, and problem-solving approaches. - Build prototypes/POCs to validate new ideas quickly, ensuring faster iteration cycles. - Stay deeply familiar with the codebase across ERP, OMS, POS, and Analytics to guide teams with practical solutions. Accelerating Development Velocity - Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in delivery pipelines - Introduce modern engineering practices to reduce lead times. - Champion productivity tooling (IDEs, CI/CD optimizations, code quality gates, AI-assisted coding tools). - Measure and improve engineering throughput using metrics like cycle time, PR lead time, and deployment frequency. Team Enablement & Unblocking - Work closely with squads as a force multiplierhelping unblock critical design, scaling, orperformance issues. - Mentor engineers by showing how to solve problems, not just telling them. - Encourage creative problem-solving and introduce fresh approaches from modern SaaS engineering playbooks Strategic & Technical Leadership - Define and execute the engineering vision aligned with Ginesys One's long-term product and business strategy. - Lead modernization efforts: migration from monoliths to microservices, cloud-native architecture, event / API integrations - Ensure enterprise-grade scalability, security, performance, and compliance across all products. - Build, mentor, and scale high-performing engineering teams across ERP, POS, OMS, and Analytics. - Foster a progressive engineering culture based on ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning. Innovation & Ecosystem - Champion AI/ML and data-driven innovation within the Ginesys ecosystem. - Explore emerging technologies (serverless, low-code, event streaming, API economy) for adoption. - Collaborate with key enterprise customers, marketplace partners, and internal stakeholders to align technical roadmaps. Candidate Profile - 12 - 15 years of engineering experience, with at least 5+ years in senior leadership roles. - Proficiency in various programming languages (MS, Node, PHP), Databases (MySQL, PG, Mongo), frameworks, and tools - Strong understanding of system architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices - Deep experience in cloud-native (Azure) microservices, container orchestration (Kubernetes, Docker), event-driven systems. - Proven track record of shipping products faster by removing friction in the development lifecycle. - Strong understanding of both architecture at scale and day-to-day engineering realities. - Startup-style bias for action, yet with the maturity to run large teams in a structured SaaS environment. Qualifications Educational Background: Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience). Experience Hands on professional with 12 - 15 years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in a leadership role.
