Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Development Engineer to drive new product development (NPD) and establish, optimize, and control manufacturing processes at our Dharwad, Karnataka plant. The role requires strong technical expertise in mechanical metalworking machinery, coating technologies, and reduction environment processes, with exposure to copper plating, sintering, polymerization (plastics & PTFE), and post-processing operations such as cutting and chamfering.

The ideal candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams, ensuring that new products are developed efficiently and that manufacturing processes are stable, cost-effective, and compliant with quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and execute new product development from concept to industrialization.
- Establish and optimize manufacturing processes involving:
- Copper plating and other coating technologies
- Sintering under reduction environments
- Polymerization of plastics and PTFE
- Cutting, chamfering, and finishing of metals
- Define process parameters, control plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Select, validate, and maintain machinery, tools, and production technologies for metalworking and coatings.
- Drive process improvement, cost optimization, and efficiency initiatives.
- Work with suppliers and vendors for technology, raw materials, and equipment support.
- Collaborate with quality and production teams to ensure zero-defect manufacturing.
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions for process deviations.
- Support scale-up from pilot to mass production, ensuring repeatability and reliability.
- Stay updated with new technologies and industry best practices in coatings, sintering, polymer processing, and machining.

Desired Skills & Experience

- 310 years of relevant industry experience in manufacturing, process engineering, or new product development.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical metalworking machinery and manufacturing technologies.
- Practical exposure to copper plating, sintering, polymerization of plastics/PTFE, and machining processes.
- Familiarity with reduction environment processes (e.g., controlled atmosphere furnaces).
- Experience in process design, validation, and control methods (PFMEA, SPC, Six Sigma, etc.).
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams (R&D, Quality, Production, Maintenance).
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Hands-on approach with a mindset for continuous improvement and innovation.
