We're Hiring: Senior Mechanical Designer – Smart Home Devices (IoT)

We're looking for a Mechanical Designer to join the Smart Home division at Mantra Softech, where you'll help develop the next generation of intelligent, secure, and beautifully integrated IoT devices.

Role & Responsibilities:

- Own the mechanical design of smart home products including video doorbells, smart locks, switch panels, sensors, and security cameras—from concept to production.
- Develop 3D CAD assemblies and production-ready drawings using SolidWorks, Creo, or Fusion 360 with a strong focus on DFM and DFA.
- Design rugged enclosures optimized for IP ratings, EMI shielding, RF transparency, thermal efficiency, and drop resilience.
- Collaborate with Industrial Designers, Embedded Engineers, PCB Layout Engineers, and Antenna teams to co-create integrated form factors.
- Balance mechanical requirements with cost, material constraints, RF propagation, thermal ventilation, and mass production techniques.
- Support EVT, DVT, and PVT builds and actively resolve mechanical bottlenecks during pilot and mass production.
- Lead mechanical validation and reliability testing (drop, vibration, humidity, thermal, and fatigue).
- Interface with global vendors for tooling, fabrication, material qualification, and tolerance optimization.
- Drive reliability through rigorous validation planning (drop, vibration, thermal cycling, etc.).
- Bring a systems-thinking mindset to layout planning, space optimization, battery architecture, and sensor integration.

What We're Looking For

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
- 4–8+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience in consumer electronics or IoT hardware.
- Mastery of CAD design, tolerance stack-up analysis, GD&T, and mechanical documentation.
- Expert-level proficiency in CAD tools like SolidWorks (Preferred), Creo, or Fusion 360
- Hands-on experience with injection molding, sheet metal, die casting, and tolerance stack-up for mass production
- Demonstrated ability to solve design problems under thermal, ingress protection, or EMI/ESD constraints
- Strong understanding of how mechanical decisions impact RF, antenna, and wireless performance
- Experience working with global suppliers, including reviewing tooling drafts, part validation, and tolerance optimization
- Proven experience in plastic injection molding, die casting, sheet metal design, and IP-rated enclosures.
- Deep understanding of EMI/ESD shielding, thermal management, and how mechanical architecture influences RF and antenna design.
- Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards (UL, CE, FCC, BIS, RoHS) and design validation workflows.
- Experience working with CM/ODM vendors and participation in prototype-to-production cycles.
- Thermal & Ventilation Design - Experience designing enclosures with proper thermal management and ventilation (e.g., airflow analysis, smoke entry grills, ingress protection).
