This position requires strong technical competence, leadership ability, and hands-on project management experience in buildings and infrastructure works — including roads, water, and sewerage systems. Key Responsibilities - Lead and coordinate civil engineering activities across multiple projects. - Prepare, review, and approve designs, structural drawings, and technical specifications. - Supervise site operations to ensure quality control and safety compliance. - Manage project schedules, budgets, material procurement, and subcontractors. - Liaise with architects, consultants, suppliers, and regulatory bodies. - Conduct risk assessments and resolve on-site technical challenges. - Ensure compliance with Botswana's building codes, environmental, and safety regulations. - Provide leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and site staff. - Prepare and present progress reports and documentation to management and clients. Qualifications & Experience - Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering (Master's degree an advantage). - Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience with a reputable construction company. Proven experience in: - Residential housing projects (minimum Ground +3). - Infrastructure works: bulk earthworks, sewerage, water reticulation, roads, and stormwater. - Fluent in English (spoken and written). - Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD Pro, and related engineering software. - Strong leadership, interpersonal, and project management skills. - Valid driver's license and willingness to travel/relocate within Botswana. - Registered or eligible for registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB) in Botswana. Desirable (Added Advantage) - Experience with green/sustainable construction practices. - Familiarity with FIDIC contract administration. - Established local market network with suppliers and subcontractors.
