About Talkster

Talkster is an English language learning app built to help people in India speak English with confidence in real-world situations. Our focus is on practical English that users can apply at work , home , and in social settings .

We create short, engaging lessons taught in the learners mother tongue such as Hindi, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil, or Gujarati alongside English. Learners can watch lessons, practice speaking in real time, and receive instant feedback on grammar and pronunciation.

As part of our team, youll play a key role in shaping learning experiences that are culturally relevant, easy to follow, and genuinely impactful for millions of learners. Youll be working with a passionate, collaborative group that values creativity, attention to detail, and making a real difference in peoples lives.

What Youll Do

In this role, you will:

- Content Translation: Translate curriculum content into Tamil using internal tools.

- Content Reviews: Collaborate with internal team members and external content advisors to review grammar, fluency, and cultural relevance of translated content.

- Product & Content Testing: Test content and app features before and after release to ensure the best user experience.

- Product & Content Improvement: Suggest enhancements to both the content and the app.

- User Engagement: Interact with potential users to gather feedback and encourage them to try the application.

What Were Looking For

- Strong command of reading, writing, and speaking Tamil & Hindi, with the ability to switch naturally between formal and everyday usage.

- In-depth knowledge of everyday, conversational Tamil & Hindi as it is spoken in India, including common phrases, polite expressions, and regionally relevant vocabulary.

- Experience in proofreading and editing Tamil content, ensuring it is grammatically correct, easy to understand, and culturally appropriate for Indian learners.

- Access to a working laptop, a functioning computer that is capable of supporting video meetings via Zoom, and collaboration software like Google Workspace

- Comfortable working with digital tools, especially Google Docs and other Google Workspace applications, to collaborate with team members and advisors.

- Bonus: Experience teaching English to Indian learners or working with language learning apps/platforms, with an understanding of how people in India learn English as a second language.
