Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

- Install, configure, upgrade, and patch MySQL and PostgreSQL database systems.
- Monitor database performance and proactively address slow queries, locking, and resource bottlenecks.
- Design and implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Manage replication (streaming, logical, or GTID-based) and clustering (e.g., MySQL Group Replication, Patroni).
- Handle database migrations, version upgrades, and data transformation tasks.
- Automate DBA tasks using shell scripts, Python, or Ansible.
- Ensure data security, compliance, and access control in database environments.
- Work with developers on schema design, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Maintain documentation and contribute to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Monitor and manage cloud-based databases (AWS RDS, Aurora, GCP Cloud SQL, etc.).

Required Skills and Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- 47+ years of hands-on experience with MySQL (5.7/8.0) and PostgreSQL (12+) administration.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, PL/pgSQL, and stored procedures.
- Expertise in database backup and recovery tools like pgBackRest, mysqldump, Percona XtraBackup.
- Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Zabbix, Nagios, pgBadger).
- Familiarity with Linux-based environments (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS).
- Understanding of ACID principles, MVCC, and transaction management.
