FTTH & FTTB Deployment Program Manger (Apply Now)

To drive end-to-end deployment, and execution of FTTB (Fiber to the Building/Business) and FTTx (Fiber to the Home, Hub, Splitters, and Access) projects across Airtel Africa’s 14 Operating Companies (OpCos). The role will ensure timely rollouts, cost efficiency, and adherence to group standards while enabling growth of Home Broadband and Enterprise business. Deliverables (Maximum 5-6 key responsibilities) - Program Leadership: Drive FTTB & FTTx rollout strategy and implementation across all 14 OpCos, ensuring alignment with Group AOP targets. - Deployment Management: - - Monitor end-to-end deployment of OLTs, fiber backbone, hub boxes, splitters, and last-mile connectivity. - - Ensure efficient execution of FTTB rollouts for Enterprise customers and high-value buildings. - Governance & MIS: - - Standardize reporting dashboards and MIS for FTTB & FTTx across OpCos. - - Track deployment KPIs (Orders Received vs. Deployed, cost per home/building passed). - Cross-Functional Coordination: Work closely with OpCo CTOs, Enterprise teams, and Home Broadband teams to drive delivery and resolve bottlenecks. - Vendor & Partner Management: Engage with OEMs, civil contractors, and technology partners to ensure quality and timely delivery. - Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to Airtel Africa technical standards, design guidelines, and acceptance checklists. - Risk & Issue Management: Proactively highlight risks to rollout timelines and recommend mitigation plans. - Knowledge Sharing: Build capability across Op-Cos through best practice sharing, training, and standardized processes. - Project resource allocation and management. - Share best practices and learning with wider PM community - Support Project Management Office (PMO) functions initiatives Decision level This section requires an overview of the decisions taken by the role holder and who actually takes accountability for the decisions. Improvement in order-to-activation cycle time. 5. Publishing weekly dashboards on Network Rollout (Fiber, Mobility Nodes , Material availability etc) 6. Highlighting Rollout related issues and concerns to top Management. Contributory: Makes a major contribution to a decision or policy judgment reached by others 1. Design/Architectural changes in the network. Demonstrate (Key competencies) - Good end to end knowledge of FTTX & FTTB End to End rollout & Trouble Shooting. - Strong knowledge of FTTx architecture (OLT, splitters, fiber design, GPON, Active Ethernet, ROW). - - FTTB rollout for enterprise customers, including building entry, in-building cabling, and customer activation. Familiarity with network acceptance, QoS, and performance monitoring. - Proficiency in Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables), PowerPoint, and MIS tools. - Ability to drive cross-country teams, influence senior stakeholders, and manage vendor relationships. - Strong communication, problem-solving, and presentation skills Educational Level: - Bachelor's degree in Telecommunication, Telecommunication engineering. Working Experience: - 10+ years’ industry experience in FTTX & FTTB Rollout - Preferably Telecom experience in large Telecom organization.
