Role Summary

Trianz is seeking an experienced Lead Technical Instructional Designer/eLearning Developer to lead the design and development of innovative, AI-enhanced learning solutions for product, engineering, partner and customer-facing teams in a fast-paced SaaS/cloud product organization. This role includes mentoring junior instructional designers and offers the opportunity to transition into a leadership position within 12-18 months. The ideal candidate will leverage cutting-edge instructional design methodologies, AI-powered development tools, and modern learning technologies to create scalable, technical learning experiences that drive product adoption and continuous upskilling.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Design & Development

- Design and develop engaging, learner-centric technical content for internal teams (engineering, product management, customer success) and external audiences (partners, developers, end-users)
- Translate complex business uses cases and product features, SOPs, technical documentation engineering processes into clear, accessible learning modules using AI-assisted content creation
- Create scalable and adaptive learning paths and personalized learning experiences across multiple modalities: eLearning, microlearning, interactive simulations, virtual instructor-led training (vILT), virtual labs, AR/VR experiences, and self-paced modules
- Build assessment frameworks including practical challenges, scenario-based evaluations, and competency-based certifications

AI-Enhanced Content Development

- Leverage AI tools (Claude, Copilot, etc.) to accelerate content creation, generate learning scenarios, and optimize instructional effectiveness
- Implement AI-powered personalization engines to create adaptive learning experiences based on learner progress and preferences
- Use generative AI for rapid prototyping of learning content, automated quiz generation, and content localization
- Apply AI-driven analytics to continuously improve learning outcomes and engagement metrics

Technical Integration & Innovation

- Collaborate with product managers, engineering and delivery teams and customer and partner enablement teams to develop accurate, timely, and impactful training content aligned with product releases
- Develop certification programs, product release training, developer onboarding paths, and just-in-time learning resources synchronized with the product roadmap
- Create technical sandbox environments, interactive labs, and simulation exercises
- Design learning content for emerging technologies including cloud platforms, containerization, microservices, and modern development frameworks

Strategic Learning Operations

- Partner with L&D, product, and technical leadership to conduct comprehensive learning needs assessments, identify skill gaps, and measure learning ROI through advanced analytics
- Apply modern instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM, Agile Learning, Design Thinking) with rapid iteration cycles
- Implement learning analytics and data-driven optimization to continuously enhance learning effectiveness
- Lead cross-functional learning strategy initiatives and mentor junior instructional designers

Required Technical Skills

Core Instructional Design Expertise

- 12-15 years of progressive experience in technical instructional design, with significant exposure to product-centric learning in SaaS and cloud technology companies
- Proven expertise in simplifying complex technical concepts (APIs, cloud architecture, software development) for diverse technical and non-technical audiences
- Advanced knowledge of learning science, cognitive load theory, and adult learning principles applied to technical training

Advanced eLearning Development Tools

- Expert-level proficiency in modern authoring tools: Articulate Storyline 360, Rise 360, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, Vyond
- Proficiency in multimedia production: Adobe Creative Suite (After Effects, Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Illustrator), Canva Pro, Figma

AI & Modern Technology Integration

- AI-Powered Content Creation: Experience with Claude, CoPilot or similar LLMs for content generation, optimization, and personalization
- Learning Analytics & AI: Experience with AI-driven learning analytics platforms, predictive modeling for learning outcomes

Technical & Development Competencies

- Hands-on experience with modern Learning Management Systems: Moodle, or similar LMS tools
- Cloud platforms familiarity: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud for hosting learning content and understanding cloud-based product training needs

Project Management & Collaboration

- Advanced project management using Agile/Scrum methodologies with tools like Jira
- Stakeholder management across technical and business teams
- Experience with documentation platforms like Confluence

Preferred Qualifications

Education & Certifications

- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, or related technical field
- Industry certifications: CPTD, APTD, ATD, Google Cloud Certified Trainer, AWS Training Partner, or Microsoft Learning Partner
- AI/ML certifications: Coursera AI for Everyone, Google AI Fundamentals, or similar emerging AI credentials

Specialized Experience

- 5+ years in SaaS and cloud technology product organizations
- AWS certification (Solutions Architect, Cloud Practitioner, or Developer Associate) - added advantage
- Experience designing learning for developer audiences, including API documentation, SDK tutorials, and technical implementation guides
- Customer education experience: Creating external-facing training for clients, partners, or developer communities
- Background in technical writing, developer advocacy, or product marketing with learning focus
- Experience with internationalization/localization of technical learning content

Advanced Technical Knowledge – Good to have

- Understanding of modern software architectures: microservices, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), cloud-native applications
- Experience with accessibility standards: WCAG 2.1 AA, Section 508 compliance, and inclusive design principles
