Overview of the Role

We are looking for a Technical Lead – Backend Engineering who thrives in fast-paced environments and believes in getting things done. You will drive initiatives that scale our core systems, balance existing business logic with new innovations, and ensure high reliability and performance across mission-critical components.

This role requires taking ownership of complex problems, collaborating effectively with peers, and comfortably engaging in both technical and customer-facing discussions. What You'll Work On

Execute with precision: Own technical execution for backend and frontend modules and lead delivery across the team.

Scale smartly: Enhance and evolve existing backend systems with scalable architecture patterns and thoughtful refactoring—not rewrites for the sake of it.

Drive backend excellence: Architect high-performance services using Java and Spring Boot, built for scale and uptime.

Enable observability: Work closely with DevOps to ensure production readiness with robust monitoring and alerting practices on AWS.

Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with technical peers, product managers, and occasionally with customer-facing teams to ensure alignment of business and tech priorities.

Mentor and lead: Grow backend engineering capabilities by providing clear guidance, thoughtful code reviews, and proactive problem-solving.

What We’re Looking For

Technical Expertise

7–10 years of backend experience, with recent hands-on development in Java and Spring Boot.

Proven experience building and scaling systems to handle high throughput, low latency, and event-driven architecture.

Solid understanding of AWS infrastructure components: EC2, S3, RDS, SQS, VPC, and more.

Familiarity with DevOps best practices, CI/CD pipelines, and performance tuning.

Leadership & Execution

Ability to own end-to-end delivery of backend and frontend features with high accountability.

Pragmatic decision-maker who focuses on value and execution over over-engineering.

Experience leading and mentoring engineers, conducting design reviews, and managing technical debt effectively.

Collaboration & Communication

Strong communication skills to influence technical decisions and align with business objectives.

Comfortable in customer-facing discussions, when needed, to represent technical perspectives.

Proven ability to collaborate with peers and cross-functional teams in remote/hybrid setups.

Bonus Points

Prior experience in subscription billing, e-commerce, or high-scale fintech systems.

Exposure to high-scale event-driven systems

Familiarity with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or DataDog.
