Preoperative Preparation Prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments sterile drapes and necessary equipment Check sterilization and availability of required surgical packs and supplies Scrub Role Duties Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and maintaining a sterile field Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and ensure timely instrument handling Maintain aseptic technique throughout the surgical procedure Instrument and Equipment Handling Ensure proper functioning and sterilization of surgical instruments before and after the surgery Count sponges needles and instruments before and after surgery along with circulating nurse Patient Safety and Documentation Verify patient identity surgical site and consent with the surgical team Document intraoperative nursing care and instrument usage as per hospital protocols Postoperative Responsibilities Assist in safe transfer of the patient to recovery or post-anesthesia care unit PACU Clean disinfect and prepare the OT for the next surgery Team Coordination Coordinate with anesthetists circulating nurses and surgeons to ensure smooth OT flow Participate in surgical team briefings and debriefings Compliance and Safety Follow infection control sterilization and waste disposal protocols strictly Adhere to hospital safety emergency and quality control policies
