Senior Research Analyst

Overview IDC is seeking a Senior Analyst, Tech Buyer Data to join our TechMatch program. In this hands-on role, you will research software markets, create and refresh high volumes of commercial information on software providers, and ensure data quality for our AI-driven sourcing platform. You will be a key contributor to a team that is reshaping how enterprises evaluate and select technology, cutting through the complexity of vendor landscapes and accelerating software procurement with trusted, data-driven insights. Responsibilities - Research software markets, identifying key vendors, products, pricing, and commercial terms. - Data standardization - classification of unstructured text input into structured columns e.G. Product, Module, SKU - Create and refresh large volumes of commercial information for software providers, ensuring comprehensive coverage of products, modules, SKUs, and pricing structures. - Use AI tools to prepopulate, clean, and enrich datasets on IT vendors. - Perform thorough quality assurance on platform and external data, identifying and remediating errors or inconsistencies. - Support the development of analytics features for vendor evaluation and comparison. - Collaborate with engineers and product managers to refine data models and reporting capabilities. - Data analysis including Quality checks, extracting key findings, suggested Quality Remediation Qualifications - Minimum 3 years' experience as a Data Analyst, Market Analyst, Business Analyst or Data Scientist - Strong understanding of IT and Software ecosystems and value chains - Advanced Excel (e.G. pivot, flat file, vlookup, offset, match) - Communication skills – Explaining issues and findings effectively - Analytical skills – i.E. find and classify the important bits of data - Attention to detail – doesn’t get tired to find issues - Coachability and willingness to learn new systems and skills - Open feedback mindset (disagree and commit, candor) - Creative data problem-solving including ability to create synthetic data with low-levels of data input - Ability to gain trust, negotiate and work with technical teams and business stakeholders Qualifications (additional) - Experience with LLM Chat interface search and Web data analysis (e.G. Perplexity, ChatGPT Deep Research) - Advanced Power Point creation skills - Previous experience in companies providing evaluation, benchmarking, vendor comparison solutions in software/cloud/IT space IDC is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
