Company DescriptionWere not in the shipping business were in the information business - Peter Rose Expeditors FounderGlobal supply chain management is what we do but at the heart of Expeditors you will find professionalism leadership and a friendly environment all of which foster an innovative customer service-based approach to logistics Organic Growth - Expeditors promotes from within As a shining example our CEO started as an entry level employee in our San Francisco office 31 years ago 18 000 trained professionals 250 locations worldwide Fortune 500 Globally unified systems Join Us Expeditors International of Washington Inc is seeking an experienced attorney specializing in international employment and labor law The position will be located onsite at our Bellevue Washington office or in a major U S city where we operate The Commercial Contracts Attorney will join a world-class legal department and devote time to a wide variety of labour and employment legal matters primarily in the Asia Pacific and MAIR regions Primary responsibilities include Supporting and advising business teams including executives managers employee relations information services and operations regarding compliance with existing and forthcoming labor and employment laws and regulations Advising on issues such as discipline non-competition redundancies leave disability contingent workers equity contractor management occupational health and safety anti-discrimination wage and hour and union labor relations Drafting service provider commission non-compete handbooks and policies employment and settlement agreements Conducting internal investigations Managing litigation outside counsel and budgets Travel Expected 5 to 15 Valid passport authorized to travel internationally Qualifications Juris Doctorate Bachelor of Laws or equivalent degree in Laws Licensed authorized to practice law in any jurisdiction in the US or in any jurisdiction within the APAC and MAIR regions in good standing At least 5 years of experience in a top law firm preferred In-house experience working in the law department of a Fortune 500 company highly desirable but not required Strong knowledge of and practical experience advising on labor and employment laws and regulations Practical experience working with trade unions preferred The ability to identify analyze assess and communicate legal risks to enable internal clients to make quality risk-adjusted business decisions Strong analytical interpersonal written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational skills with high level of attention to detail and accuracy Excellent business judgment and ability to work independently Fluent oral and written English required fluency in additional languages is an asset Additional InformationBenefits Paid Vacation Paid Holiday Paid Sick Time Health Plan Medical Prescription Drug Dental and Vision Life and Long Term Disability Insurance Training and Education Program We are fully committed to the importance of diversity within the legal profession as an Equal Opportunity Employer We strongly encourage the interest of diverse candidates in the company
