Job Description

The Senior Merchandising Executive will be responsible for assisting in the development and execution of merchandising strategies to optimize product assortment, pricing, promotion, and display across various channels. This role requires a strong understanding of market trends, consumer behavior, inventory management, and excellent analytical skills to drive sales growth and profitability. The ideal candidate will be a proactive, data-driven professional with a keen eye for product and a commitment to achieving business objectives.

Responsibilities

- Assortment Planning & Selection:
- Assist in the development of product assortment plans based on market trends, sales data, customer preferences, and seasonal demands.
- Collaborate with the buying team to select new products and ranges that align with brand strategy and target market.
- Monitor product performance and recommend adjustments to the assortment.
- Inventory Management & Optimization:
- Analyze sales forecasts and inventory levels to ensure optimal stock availability across all retail channels (online and offline).
- Identify slow-moving or excess inventory and propose strategies for clearance or markdown.
- Work closely with the supply chain and warehouse teams to ensure timely product flow.
- Pricing & Promotion:
- Support the pricing strategy by analyzing competitor pricing, market demand, and product margins.
- Coordinate the execution of promotional activities and sales campaigns, ensuring proper product placement and communication.
- Monitor the effectiveness of promotions and provide feedback for future campaigns.
- Visual Merchandising & Display:
- Work with retail operations to ensure products are displayed effectively and attractively in stores and online.
- Develop and communicate visual merchandising guidelines to store teams.
- Regularly visit stores to audit merchandising compliance and gather insights.
- Data Analysis & Reporting:
- Collect, analyze, and interpret sales data, inventory reports, and market research to identify trends and opportunities.
- Prepare detailed merchandising reports for management, highlighting performance, challenges, and recommendations.
- Utilize merchandising software or advanced Excel for data analysis.
- Vendor & Cross-functional Coordination:
- Liaise with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams (buying, sales, marketing, operations) to ensure smooth execution of merchandising plans.
- Provide product knowledge and training to sales and store staff.
- Market Research:
- Stay updated on industry trends, competitor strategies, and consumer buying patterns within the relevant product categories.
