Job Description

Role Purpose:

The Assistant Manager Payroll will be responsible for end-to-end payroll management for India, ensuring timely and accurate processing of employee salaries, statutory compliance with Indian labor and tax regulations, and payroll-related reporting. The role requires strong attention to detail, thorough knowledge of Indian statutory laws, and effective coordination with multiple stakeholders to maintain payroll accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage monthly payroll processing for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Validate and reconcile inputs such as attendance, leave records, new joiners, exits, salary revisions, and variable pay.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory requirements (PF, ESI, PT, TDS, gratuity and other applicable labor laws).
- Handle employee queries related to salary, taxation, and payroll policies.
- Prepare payroll MIS, reports, and analytics for management review.
- Stay updated on changes in labor laws, taxation, and statutory compliance.
- Support process automation, audits, and continuous improvement in payroll systems.

Education:

- Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Finance, or HR. MBA/PGDM or CMA/ CA
- Experience: 7-10 years of payroll management experience (India payroll).

Technical Skills:

- Strong knowledge of payroll systems (SAP, ADP etc.).
- Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced formulas, reconciliations).
- Knowledge of income tax and statutory compliance.

Behavioural Skills:

- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills.
