Game Designer

Job Description We're seeking a high-IQ, driven, and player-obsessed game designer to join our team and help create groundbreaking entertainment products that are validated by real players at every stage of development. We are not there yet, and we seek an exceptional team member who can help us achieve global competitiveness. Role & Key Responsibilities This isn't a traditional, ivory-tower design role. We're looking for a designer who understands that the best ideas are proven with players. You will be the bridge between our design vision and our player community, ensuring we build games that truly resonate. - Design Documentation: Write comprehensive game design specifications and feature docs that are not only clear and detailed but are also informed by your research and player validation findings. - Quality & Polish Ownership: Drive the game's polish and uphold the quality bar. Work closely with engineers, artists, and level designers to ensure every feature meets our high standards and feels great to play, using player feedback as a key measure of success. - Market & Player Analysis: Continuously analyze top-performing mobile and shooter games to understand market trends and player expectations. Produce detailed, analytical breakdowns of reference games to inform and inspire our own design decisions. - Player-Centric Validation & Research: Become the voice of the player on the development team. Design and execute a comprehensive validation strategy for new features, systems, and content. This includes running surveys (CSAT, NPS), conducting in-person and remote focus groups (using tools like PlaytestCloud), and translating raw player feedback into actionable design improvements. - Direct Community Engagement: Be on the front lines. You will actively participate in our community channels (Discord, Slack, etc.), talking directly with players to understand their motivations, pain points, and desires. You will build relationships and foster a feedback loop that informs design decisions daily. - AI Integration: Research and implement AI tools to enhance the game design and validation process. Explore AI applications for prototyping, analyzing player sentiment, testing, and content creation. What We're Looking For - Deep Player Empathy: You are genuinely curious about what makes players tick. You have exceptional listening and communication skills, capable of building rapport with players in community forums and focus groups to uncover deep insights. - User Research Acumen: You believe in testing ideas early and often. You have experience or a strong interest in designing surveys, structuring playtests, and analyzing both qualitative and quantitative data to prove or disprove design hypotheses. - High IQ & Problem-Solving: High intellectual horsepower with exceptional problem-solving skills. You approach complex design challenges with a structured, logical mindset and devise smart, systematic solutions. - Clear, Organized Writer: Excellent writing skills with a knack for clarity. You can produce detailed design documentation and concise research reports that are easy for others to understand and act upon. - Passion for Shooters: A deep passion for shooter games on all platforms. You love playing and dissecting FPS/TPS titles and have keen insight into what makes their gameplay fun and engaging for players. - Analytical Mindset: Comfort with analyzing diverse data setsfrom game telemetry to survey results and unstructured player commentsto identify patterns and back up your design decisions with sound reasoning. - Curious & Growth-Oriented: A strong learner's mindset with endless curiosity. You constantly seek to learn new things, research validation techniques, study games, and improve your own skills. Demonstrated Skill & Achievements We welcome junior as well as veteran candidatesbut you must demonstrate your game design ability. This could be through prior work on games (professional or hobbyist), personal projects, blog posts, mods, game jam entries, or any notable design achievements that show off your skills and creative thinking.
