Sr Advanced Systems Engr

Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr Advanced Systems Engr to join our Process Information & Control (PIC) department at Sparta Systems. In this role, you will be crucial in the development, customization, and support of advanced control systems for external customers, focusing on regulatory and batch control, advanced process control, expert systems, and Distributed Control Systems (DCS) interfacing. Roles and Responsibilities: - Execute programming tasks for assigned projects within budgeted hours and schedule, ensuring the required level of quality. - Provide recommendations for improving software/programs, service support, and testing activities to enhance the competitiveness of UOP PIC products. - Support the maintenance and development of systems (ISO-9001) and resources (coaching & training) to effectively transfer technology to the marketplace, maximizing value to UOP and customers. - Identify and execute opportunities for continuous work process and productivity improvements, optimizing project deliverables by maximizing efficiency through better methods, masters, systems, and tools, thereby minimizing costs. - Configure/network PCs, Virtual Machines (VMs), and control system hardware to facilitate simulation, integration, testing, and/or troubleshooting of hardware and/or software. - Provide regular reporting on the status of assigned projects and tasks. - Customize and/or develop software architecture, logic (coding in multiple languages), and operator interface applications. - Support and/or perform integration, testing, verification, and validation activities. - Convert functional specifications or process control ideas into robust software solutions. - Create and improve master programs and feature definitions. Skills Requirement: - Extensive experience in control systems software development and customization. - Experience with UOP PIC control system product lines such as PSA, ACCS, DRCS, CRCS, etc., is a strong plus. - Ideal experience includes developing/customizing control systems software for batch or continuous process applications in the refining and/or petrochemical industries. - Working knowledge of Honeywell control system products and software, including Experion HMIWeb, Safety Builder, Safety Manager, Control Builder, and C300, is a strong plus. - Working knowledge of HMI programming software such as InTouch Wonderware is a plus. - Working knowledge of programmable controllers and their programming software, such as Invensys Tricon/Trident, Tristation, Siemens S7, Modicon M580, EcoStruxure ControlExpert, Studio5000, and/or Rockwell/Allen-Bradley ControlLogix PLC, is a strong plus. - Understanding of interfaces such as RS-232, RS-422, Ethernet, fiber optic, and interface protocols such as Modbus and Object Linking & Embedding for Process Control (OPC). - Understanding of control panel electrical schematics, including components like power supplies, breakers, relays, and analog and digital wire loops. - Strong understanding of the concepts and role of software within control systems. - Understanding of various software development lifecycles. - Knowledge of software configuration management and change management practices. - Strong organizational, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skills. - Effective communication skills. - Demonstrated creativity and latitude in problem-solving. - Self-motivated individual who can work with little supervision and consistently takes the initiative. - Ability to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness. - Ability to quickly analyze, incorporate, and apply new information and concepts. - Experience in diverse and global teaming and collaboration. - Ability to adapt to project changes and multi-task effectively. - Capable of making autonomous decisions. QUALIFICATION: - Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, or Computer) or Computer Science.
