Description Amazon Advertising operates at the intersection of e-commerce and advertising offering a range of digital advertising solutions with the goal of helping customers discover and shop for anything they want to buy The Amazon Advertising business is growing at a fast pace and this team s mission is to apply technology to accelerate that growth through best-in-class software engineering data engineering and business intelligence n this role you will create the vision for your team develop your team and define the technological roadmap by partnering with Principal Engineers and Product Managers This position requires technical background in operating systems software development and systems development with detailed planning operational excellence operational management and effective written and verbal communication skills adapting to the different levels of audiences in the company Key job responsibilities Manage and develop the teams that engineer key Ads technologies including hiring retention performance management mentoring and capability skill development Evaluate complex business and technical requirements and communicate inherent risks and solutions to technical and non-technical business owners Create vision for your team planning focused on timely delivery driving operational activities and on-call rotation for your team Influence other teams and leaders outside your organization work hand-in-hand with Principal Engineers diving deep into technical areas as needed and coordinate with other teams working in the same space spread across the world Basic qualifications 7 years of engineering experience 5 years of engineering team management experience Experience partnering with product or program management teams Experience managing multiple concurrent programs projects and development teams in an Agile environment Preferred qualifications Experience partnering with product and program management teams A day in the life As the manager of the team you own vision and mission of the team You will attend daily team stand ups weekly operational call hand-offs or other required meet with stakeholders regarding short-term long-term projects You will weekly meet with your team to discuss their career goals and passions You will lead operational excellence initiatives You will partner with your Sr SDEs and other tenured engineers to build and design architectures that will scale for the long term You will provide guidance to senior leaders on long-term technical strategies and approaches to solving problems within your domain Basic Qualifications - 7 years of engineering experience - 3 years of engineering team management experience - 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software hardware networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations - Experience partnering with product or program management teams - Experience designing or architecting design patterns reliability and scaling of new and existing systems Preferred Qualifications - Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy - Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers - Experience delivering products against plan in a fast-paced multi-disciplined distributed-responsibility and often ambiguous environment Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers If you have a disability and need a workplace accommodation or adjustment during the application and hiring process including support for the interview or onboarding process please visit for more information If the country region you re applying in isn t listed please contact your Recruiting Partner
