Lead Scientist-Green Chemistry Location Bangalore India Company Pakka Limited About Pakka Limited At Pakka Ltd we are committed to sustainable innovation creating eco-friendly packaging solutions that align with the needs of modern businesses With over 40 years of manufacturing excellence and a strong R D foundation we have been revolutionizing in three major segments namely Wrap Carry Food Services Flexible packaging Join us to shape the future of packaging and make a meaningful impact Mission of the Role To develop safe bio-based and circular chemical solutions for coatings adhesives and processing enabling compostable and recyclable packaging without performance trade-offs Key Responsibilities 1 Develop bio-based formulations including natural barrier coatings and renewable adhesives that replace PFAS with safe compostable alternatives while maintaining high performance and regulatory safety 2 Innovate circular and recovery-friendly chemistries that integrate seamlessly with pulping processes ensuring compost-safe formulations aligned with sustainable product lifecycles 3 Establish and lead pilot lab operations to design test and scale solvent-free coating and adhesive systems from lab formulations to production-ready commercially viable solutions 4 Ensure food-contact safety and global regulatory compliance by adhering to FDA and EU standards proactively eliminating hazardous substances from all formulations 5 Validate product performance through OTR WVTR and functional tests benchmarking against plastics and verifying process compatibility on converting and coating lines 6 Drive IP creation by filing patents for novel chemistries tracking competitive patents and safeguarding Pakka s innovations while fostering strategic partnerships with universities and industry collaborators 7 Integrate sustainability by assessing cradle-to-cradle impact quantifying carbon footprint ensuring low-impact sourcing and supporting commercialization through case studies brand collaborations and internal capability building in green chemistry Qualifications Master s or Ph D degree in one of the following fields Green Chemistry Organic Chemistry Polymer Science Polymer Chemistry Chemical Engineering Materials Science Sustainable Chemistry or related disciplines Experience 10 years of experience in R D or product development in coatings adhesives or chemical formulations Proven track record in bio-based or circular chemistry innovations Hands-on experience with pilot labs validation and scaling Familiarity with regulatory compliance FDA EU for food-contact materials Skills Expertise in formulation chemistry and material testing Strong background in polymer processing and coating technologies Proficiency in IP creation and protection Ability to work cross-functionally with R D production and sustainability teams Strong project management analytical and communication skills What We Offer This role offers the opportunity to lead innovative sustainable packaging solutions within an innovation-focused work culture supported by state-of-the-art R D facilities and resources You will enjoy a competitive salary with performance-based incentives comprehensive healthcare benefits and a strong focus on work-life balance The position also provides ample professional development opportunities to help you grow and excel in your career To Apply If you re passionate about driving innovation and shaping the future of sustainable packaging send your CV and cover letter to Join us to shape the future of sustainable packaging
