About the role and the team You are able to focus on your team's deliveries whilst at the same time seeing the total picture and what is best for Cognite. It is important that you get energy from working as a collaborative leader and can coach a team with different competency areas. You will be responsible for managing two teams with an average of 4-5 people per team, with high competency in Data storage, Databases, data modeling, scalable distributed systems, mostly programming in Java, Kotlin, Python and Scala. The teams develop and maintain multiple backend storage services, including the Flexible Data Modelling Backend, as well as Assets, Events, Files, Geospatial, Templates and the Search architecture. Key responsibilities include - Manage a team of 8-15 engineers, developing services and applications for Cognite Data Fusion - a robust, state-of-the-art SaaS for industrial data. - Collaborate with a cross-functional team consisting of designers, product managers and program managers to ensure the team builds the right product, that is of excellent quality and is delivered on time. - Coaching all of your engineers with variable backgrounds, seniority and understanding of the domain they are solving to have high impact in the team. - Working with your team to understand the users' problems and domain. - Unblocking the team and collaborating with stakeholders outside of the team to resolve and mitigate problems. - Being actively involved in setting product and technical direction. - You do not shy away from writing code yourself, or help your team with code reviews, documentation, etc. - Dogfooding our products to try to put yourself in our users’ shoes. We believe most of these should match you and your experience - You have a background in a product company - You have 4+ years of experience with people management - You have 10+ years of backend development experience, with proficiency in one or more of these technologies - Java, Go, Python, Scala, C#. - The added experience of having worked as a senior engineer or a tech lead is an advantage - You have a genuine and keen interest in building the competency of engineers in a company and can do so emphatically - You have a collaborative mindset, and have a drive to always look at the greater good - You have experience with building applications that process high volumes of data - You have experience managing end-to-end feature delivery - Have the motivation to work in a high-paced environment - Have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Learn more about Cognite here Cognite Product Tour 2024 Cognite Product Tour 2023 Data Contextualization Masterclass 2023 Our values Impact: Cogniters strive to make an impact in all that they do.
