Job Summary:
Seeking an experienced Data Center Technician to provide on-demand, ticket-based hardware support. Responsibilities include physical installations, cable management, and troubleshooting across network and server environments. The position involves close coordination with server and network teams, vendor management, documentation, and adherence to ITIL practices. The ideal candidate possesses both hands-on technical skills and project management capabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Test and install cables/optics for new circuits, including copper, fiber, and power cables.
- Support for rack and stack operations; assist server and network teams with hardware deployment.
- Perform labeling, patching, and asset tagging as per SOPs.
- Follow procedural task lists and submit detailed reports.
- Functional testing and failure analysis of hardware systems.
- Execute planned maintenance and circuit migrations.
- Create and test RJ45 copper cables; reseating and swapping of cards and components.
Break-Fix Support Tasks:
- Cleaning and inspecting optical fibers (LC fiber scoping).
- Replace or install loopbacks and faulty optical cables.
- Perform Bit Error Rate (BER) testing.
- Replace or reseat line cards and faulty components, RMA handling and diagnostics.
- Reboot chassis, configure remote access and basic storage array settings.
- Assist in remote circuit testing using loop-back cables.
- Power cycling and complete hardware unit replacements.
Preferred Skills: Technologies:
- DWDM, IPv4/IPv6, Optical Fiber (MPO), RJ45
- Fiber Tools: VFL, OPM, OTDR and BERT
- Core Activities: Rack/Stack/Jack, Cabling, Configuration, Optimization, Inventory, Documentation
- Technical Tasks: Cleaning, Loop-back, Line Card Replacements, BER Testing, Break-fix
- Systems: Remote Access Tools, Network Hardware, Storage Arrays
- Support Areas: SLA/KPI, RCA/CAR, Asset Management, Fault Diagnosis
