
Vetting Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW
To lead and manage the centralized RightShip Vetting Desk operations, ensuring timely and consistent administration, coordination, and closure of RightShip inspections and findings across the fleet. The Vetting Manager will act as the primary liaison between the company, business units, ships, and RightShip to maintain compliance, improve vessel safety scores, and support operational excellence.
ROLES ACCOUNTABILITIES
Key Responsibilities:
1. Oversee the booking, scheduling, and administrative management of approximately 180-200 RightShip inspections annually, ensuring adherence to regulatory timelines.
2. Lead a team and be responsible for inspection coordination, documentation, root cause analysis (RCA), and corrective action plan (CAP) follow-ups.
3. Ensure consistency and quality standards across the vetting process, driving fleetwide improvements especially in critical finding areas (ISM System, Machinery, Mooring).
4. Liaise with ship masters, chief engineers, business units, and RightShip for smooth communication and issue resolution.
5. Analyze inspection data and trends to identify recurring issues and recommend preventive actions.
6. Develop and implement process improvements, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and staff training programs related to RightShip compliance.
7. Prepare regular reports and dashboards for senior management on inspection status, findings trends, safety score progress, and risk mitigation.
8. Represent the company in audits, RightShip reviews, and external vetting-related initiatives as needed.

KEY SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES
Technical skills
1. Knowledge of international shipping regulations, vetting procedures, and safety management systems (ISM).
2. Prior experience with data trend analysis, RCA, and CAP processes.
3. Extensive Experince in Managing Vettings or inspections or audits or experince in Managing vessls - Dry or Tanker vessels
Professional skills
1. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively interact with shipboard and shore teams, as well as external stakeholders.
2. Proven leadership skills with experience managing small teams.
3. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities; detail-oriented with high accountability.
4. Proactive problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
5. Good computer skills including MS Office - 365, RMS, RightShip portal, and data analysis tools.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Provide demonstrated background experience, minimum education required, legally required qualifications or licenses
1. Master Mariner or Chief Engineer certification mandatory.
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in ship management, vetting, or maritime operations, with exposure to RightShip or equivalent vetting processes.
3. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
