Role - Furniture Designer (CNC - Engineered Wood) The Furniture Designer will be responsible for creating modern, cost-efficient, and production-ready designs for engineered wood furniture under the brand About Space. The role involves using CAD/CAM software to develop 2D/3D drawings, generate CNC machining files (nesting layouts, toolpaths, G-code), and ensure efficient material utilization. The designer will collaborate closely with the production and operations teams to convert design concepts into scalable mass-production models. The role requires a balance of creativity, technical expertise, and practical knowledge of joinery, fittings, and CNC machining for engineered wood. Key Focus Areas: - Design and develop furniture concepts (home, storage, décor, modular). - Prepare detailed CAD drawings and 3D models for CNC production. - Optimize board usage (8x4 sheets) to minimize wastage. - Translate designs into CNC-ready files (nesting + G-code). - Align designs with modern trends, cost efficiency, and fast delivery goals. Qualifications & Skills Education: - Diploma/Degree in Furniture Design, Interior Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Wood Technology. - ITI/Polytechnic candidates with relevant CNC/furniture design experience will also be considered. Software Proficiency (must know at least 2-3): - PYTHA 3D CAD - AutoCAD - SketchUp - Fusion 360 / SolidWorks - Cabinet Vision - Vectric Aspire / Cabinet Vision (preferred for CNC wood machining) Knowledge of CNC machining: - CNC Router operations (cutting, drilling, grooving, carving). - Nesting optimization for 8x4 boards. - Cabinet Vision - G-code/toolpath generation. Experience: - 3-5 years for Senior Designer. - Freshers with strong CAD/CAM portfolio may also apply. Other Skills: - Creativity with focus on modern & cost-effective design. - Understanding of modular furniture design & hardware fittings. - Strong coordination skills with production teams.
