Job Title: Intern-Biocuration & Genetic Personalisation Location: Bengaluru-Rajarajeshwari Nagar / Onsite Organization: MetFlux Research Pvt. Ltd. Employment Type: Internship (with potential conversion to full-time based on performance) About Us MetFlux Research is creating the ΩmeX ecosystem, a new platform that helps improve health by using systems biology, multi-omics analytics, and computer modeling. Our genetic analytics vertical supports MetSights Precision Genetics, a core module powering practitioner-grade risk interpretation, PRS-based insights, mechanistic variant curation, and personalized health recommendations. We designed this internship for individuals seeking to work at the intersection of human genetics, mechanistic biology, and translational bioinformatics. Role Overview As an intern in Biocuration & Genetic Personalization, you will work closely with our senior bioinformatics and systems biology teams to curate genetic mechanisms, annotate variants, and support the development of MetFlux's precision genetics knowledge base. Your work will directly contribute to: - PRS expansion - Gene-variant annotation pipelines - Mechanistic interpretation layers - MetSights personalised genetics insights This role is ideal for final early graduates who are detail-oriented, research-driven, and excited to work with real-world genetics data. Key Responsibilities - Perform structured literature mining to extract gene functions, variant effects, pathways, and mechanistic insights. - Curate genetic variant annotations using primary & secondary genomic databases (e.g., ClinVar, dbSNP, GWAS Catalog, Ensembl, OMIM). - Summarize biological mechanisms, regulatory effects, and gene-pathway interactions relevant to precision health. - Maintain high-quality, consistent biocuration documentation aligned with MetFlux standards. - Use Python or R for organizing annotations, handling datasets, and basic automation workflows. - Support senior scientists in building genetic interpretation layers for the ΩmeX knowledge graph and MetSights Precision modules. Who We're Looking For Education: - Completed graduation in Genetics, Bioinformatics, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field. Core Competencies: - Strong understanding of human genetics, gene regulation, and biological pathways. - Familiarity with bioinformatics databases (ClinVar, Ensembl, OMIM, UniProt, GTEx, etc.). - Ability to read and interpret scientific literature, especially mechanistic and molecular studies. - Strong scientific writing and structured summarization skills. - Basic proficiency in Python or R. - High attention to detail, consistency, and data accuracy. Nice to Have: - Interest in precision genomics, PRS, and personalized health. - Ability to simplify and translate complex mechanisms into clear summaries. - Curiosity-driven, analytical mindset with evidence-based thinking. - Familiarity with versioning tools (Git), notebooks, or basic automation workflows.
