**Job Summary**:
The Facility Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and maintenance of campus facilities, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. This position involves managing facility operations, coordinating maintenance schedules, supervising maintenance staff, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. The Facility Manager will collaborate with various departments to provide efficient services, reduce operating costs, and improve the overall experience on campus.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Facility Operations & Maintenance**:
- Manage the maintenance, repair, and renovation of campus buildings and grounds.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and safety equipment.
- Supervise custodial and maintenance staff, providing training and ensuring quality control in their work.
- Oversee the upkeep of classrooms, lecture halls, restrooms, dining facilities, outdoor spaces, and other campus infrastructure.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized services and larger projects (e.g., construction, electrical work).
- **Safety & Compliance**:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to building codes, health, and safety standards.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Manage fire safety systems, emergency exits, and disaster preparedness plans.
- Ensure that campus facilities meet accessibility requirements and ADA compliance.
- **Budget & Resource Management**:
- Develop and manage the facility budget, tracking expenses for maintenance, utilities, and facility-related projects.
- Monitor energy consumption and implement sustainability initiatives to reduce operational costs and environmental impact.
- Procure supplies, equipment, and services as needed to support facility operations.
- **Campus Planning & Project Management**:
- Plan and oversee capital improvement projects and renovations to optimize campus space and enhance facilities.
- Collaborate with the administration and other departments to support long-term campus development goals.
- Manage construction or renovation projects, ensuring that they are completed on time and within budget.
- **Vendor & Contractor Management**:
- Establish and maintain relationships with external vendors and contractors.
- Negotiate service contracts and manage vendor performance.
- Oversee routine and emergency services, including waste management, pest control, and landscaping.
- **Emergency Response & Crisis Management**:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for campus facilities, including procedures for power outages, floods, and other emergencies.
- Respond to facility-related emergencies promptly, coordinating repairs and coordinating with campus safety teams.
- **Customer Service & Communication**:
- Serve as a point of contact for faculty, staff, and students regarding facility-related issues and concerns.
- Provide excellent customer service by addressing maintenance requests and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Communicate effectively with the college community regarding facility closures, disruptions, or planned maintenance.
**Required Qualifications**:
- **Education**:
- Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- **Experience**:
- At least 3-5 years of experience in facilities management or a related field, preferably within an educational institution.
- Proven experience in managing a team and working with external contractors or vendors.
- **Skills & Abilities**:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth knowledge of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security systems.
- Budgeting and financial management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- **Certifications (preferred)**:
- Facilities Management Professional (FMP) or Certified Facility Manager (CFM).
- OSHA certification or other relevant safety certifications.
- Project management certification (e.g., PMP) is a plus.
**Working Conditions**:
- Regular office hours, with occasional evenings and weekends required for emergency situations or facility needs.
