**Our Vision for Food Systems**: Food systems are at the core of the changes roiling India. Samayu wants to collectively imagine the just food system of the near future (i.e., ~ 10-15 years from now), one that promotes the flourishing of people, animals and the planet and realize that imagination by constituting sub-collectives committed to near future outcomes pertinent to their organizational or individual mandates.

We do this by bringing together change agents, key stakeholders and partners for reimagining food systems in India, and use strategic levers of policy and public advocacy to implement just action. Together, we hope to advance plant-forward consumer advocacy and public policy advocacy and to enable a transition to plant-forward and sustainable food systems.

**Positions**: Field Officer **(One)**

**Location**:Flexible timing/work from home but required to be available 10 AM to 6 PM Occasional field visit for data collection and livelihood survey.

**Job description**:
We are currently seeking an Andhra Pradesh based Research team member to start immediately, with a background in food systems. As the Field Officer you will work with the Research Team at Samayu and our external collaborators on the challenges that affect our food systems. You will research information, interact with relevant stakeholders, analyze data, and work towards a system-based solution. In-depth understanding of food system issues and the positions of key actors, including farmers, policy makers, financial institutions, economic leaders, civil society, and animal activists along with media editors, etc. on the prospects of alternative livelihood opportunities and implementation of One Health approach in the animal agriculture sector have to be mapped. Occasional field visits shall be carried out for data collection and interaction with target communities.

**Duration**: initially for 6 months (may be extended based on performance)

**Eligibility and skills**:

- Qualification:
1. Essential: Bachellors’ Degree in Animal Science (Aquaculture/VeterinarySc. & Animal Husbandry)/Social Science/related field

or

2. Desirable: Masters degree in Animal Science (Aquaculture/VeterinarySc. & Animal Husbandry)/Social Science/related field
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, self-motivated and attentive to detail
- Excellent research, analysis and writing skills in English. Good knowledge in Telugu -Ability to work in a small team, taking initiative and in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Prior experience in relevant field and associated policy framework will be an added advantage
