Industrial Designer

**Objectives**:
The Industrial Designer is a highly skilled professional who develops industrial designs and user interface for ISC products. This person acts as a hands-on resource to ensure engineering design projects are completed successfully in the required time frame while maintaining the highest quality standards. This role will be involved in New Product Development projects designing the next generation of gas detection equipment. This role may also work with a multi-functional team to solve customer’s problems and enhance usability.
**Essential duties and responsibilities**:
**The duties may include but are not limited to**:
Expertise in developing design sketches, rendering and model of design ideas on both paper and digital tools
Deep understanding of user interface designs
Develop the design language and maintain a cohesive look and feel within the ISC product portfolio
Consult with internal and external resources to determine design requirements
Research various ways our products might be used and who will use it
Create physical prototypes of design proposals for internal and external feedback
Work with multi-functional team to turn industrial design concepts into manufacturable and cost-effective solutions
Evaluate product appearance, function, size, weight and other parameters to ensure product acceptability in the market
Travel to domestic or international customer locations to collect Voice of Customer (travel less than 10%)
**Qualifications (required)**:
B.S. in Industrial Design, or related field from an accredited art and design college or university or equivalent experience
3+ years’ experience in industrial design
Demonstrated proficiency in developing a design language manual
Demonstrated ability to turn design ideas into feasible, manufacturable designs
Able to commit to and work under deadlines
Proficiency in modeling software such as Autodesk Alias, Siemens NX, or similar
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated strong analytical skills
**Qualifications (preferred)**:
Experience with mobile electronics
Experience with colored screens and nested menus
Experience with industrial safety products
