Medical Receptionist

**Job Summary**:
The medical receptionist serves as the initial point of contact for patients visiting or contacting the medical facility. They are responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing appointments, handling patient inquiries, and maintaining accurate records.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Greeting Patients**: Welcome patients and visitors in a courteous and professional manner.
- **Appointment Scheduling**: Schedule patient appointments using electronic scheduling systems, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and appropriate time slots.
- **Patient Registration**: Collect and verify patient information during registration, including personal details, insurance information, and medical history.
- **Insurance Verification**: Verify patient insurance coverage and eligibility, and process insurance claims as necessary.
- **Answering Phones**: Manage incoming calls, triage inquiries, and direct calls to the appropriate department or personnel.
- **Handling Patient Inquiries**: Provide information to patients regarding clinic services, appointment availability, and general inquiries.
- **Maintaining Records**: Update and maintain patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality of sensitive information.
- **Billing and Payments**: Process patient payments, issue invoices, and assist with billing inquiries.
- **Office Maintenance**: Keep the reception area clean and organized, and ensure adequate supplies of office materials.
- **Communicating with Medical Staff**: Relay messages and information between patients and medical staff, ensuring clear and timely communication.
- **Managing Electronic Health Records (EHR)**: Utilize electronic health record systems to access patient information and update medical records as necessary.
- **Adherence to Policies and Regulations**: Follow established protocols, HIPAA regulations, and office policies to ensure compliance and patient confidentiality.
**Skills and Qualifications**:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in healthcare administration is a plus.
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using computer systems and electronic medical records software.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance procedures is desirable.
**Working Conditions**:
- Medical receptionists typically work in clean, well-lit office environments within medical facilities.
- They may spend extended periods sitting at a desk and using computers or phones to manage administrative tasks.
- Some positions may require occasional evening or weekend shifts to accommodate patient schedules.
**Salary**: ₹9,296.64 - ₹26,293.36 per month
