**ABOUT US**

The Centre for Asian Philanthropy India (CAPI) was established in 2020. Our mission is to enhance the quantity and quality of philanthropic giving and other forms of social investment in India. We contribute to the development of the private social investment sector in India by conducting and sharing research, models and strategies that create positive societal change. We also facilitate the sharing of best practices from the social sector between India and the wider Asian region.

CAPI is incorporated as a non-profit company under Section 8 of the Companies Act (2013) in Mumbai. CAPI’s logo contains a mandala, (Sanskrit for circle), representative of deeper thought. **OUR WORK**

We are a knowledge-first organization that generates evidence-based insights on the role individuals, companies and government can play in addressing social challenges. We work with a large network of local partners and philanthropists in India and beyond. We endeavor to convey best practices and insights from external collaborators across Asia that can be leveraged by Indian actors in the social impact space, and vice versa.

We also convene stakeholders around the ideas CAPI and our collaborators generate to create opportunities to share and leverage cross-sectoral learnings.

**Job Description for Research Associate**

CAPS is seeking to hire a full-time **Research Associate **with strong research, writing and editorial skills to be based in Mumbai. The Research Manager will be a member of a small but growing research team.

**Responsibilities**
- Conduct primary and secondary research on topics that include (but are not restricted to) the social sector in India, philanthropy, CSR, giving trends, ESG, sustainability, and so on;
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative information gathered from a variety of sources;
- Help execute and manage the research process;
- Write background briefs and memos for senior staff;
- Write and edit research reports and articles for publication consistent with the high standard expected at CAPI;
- Contribute to designing and planning both policy and applied research projects, including writing research proposals;
- Help nurture and grow research partnerships across India;
- Participate in conferences, events and meetings across the region to disseminate research findings and be an ambassador for CAPI.

**Qualifications**
- Master’s degree in the social sciences, business or humanities (preferred but not a must);
- 5+ years of experience in research/writing or related fields;
- Native proficiency in English. Additional Indian languages are desirable;
- Exceptional writing, editing, and critical thinking skills;
- Extensive experience using a mixture of qualitative and quantitative research methods;
- Ability to connect the dots and see patterns when analyzing quantitative and qualitative information;
- Ability to transform insights into sharply focused, digestible output;
- Project management skills refined through extensive experience in planning and managing large-scale research projects with high levels of autonomy, and stakeholder management;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work across different cultures;
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to stay organized and juggle multiple priorities;
- A can-do attitude with ability to take initiative
- Passion for comparative research with a curious mind to tackling new questions and exploring unfamiliar areas;
- Demonstrable interest in philanthropy/nonprofit/social sectors;
- Knowledge of social media tools including LinkedIn, Instagram, Youtube and website management such as Wordpress;
