Legal Executive

1. Conducting legal research on various issues relevant to the organization. Analysing statutes, regulations, and case law to provide legal opinions and advice.
2. Drafting contracts, agreements, policies, and other legal documents. Reviewing contracts and agreements to ensure compliance with legal requirements and company policies.
3. Monitoring regulatory developments and assessing their impact on the organization. Developing compliance programs and policies to ensure adherence to legal standards. Identifying potential risks and proposing risk mitigation strategies.
4. Assisting in corporate governance matters, including board meetings and shareholder communications. Ensuring compliance with corporate governance guidelines and best practices.
5. Assisting in litigation matters by gathering and organizing evidence, drafting pleadings, and coordinating with external counsel. Managing litigation files and maintaining litigation-related documentation.
6. Managing the organization's contracts throughout their lifecycle, including negotiation, execution, and renewal. Ensuring that contracts are properly archived and accessible for future reference.
7. Providing legal advice and guidance to internal stakeholders, such as executives, managers, and employees. Educating staff on legal issues relevant to their roles and responsibilities.
8. Assisting in resolving disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, or litigation. Supporting efforts to achieve favourable outcomes through ADR methods where appropriate.
9. Managing the organization's intellectual property portfolio, including trademarks, copyrights, and patents. Advising on IP issues and enforcing IP rights when necessary.
10. Conducting legal training sessions for employees to enhance awareness of legal issues and compliance requirements. Keeping abreast of changes in the law and updating internal stakeholders accordingly.
11. Managing relationships with external law firms and legal service providers. Instructing and supervising external counsel on specific legal matters as needed.
**Requirements**:
1. Prior experience in a legal role, such as a paralegal, legal assistant, or junior lawyer, is often preferred.
2. Knowledge of various areas of law relevant to the organization's operations (e.g., corporate law, employment law, contract law, intellectual property, etc.).
3. Ability to work effectively as part of a legal team, as well as independently when necessary.
**Qualifications**
1. A bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B. or equivalent) is usually required.
2. Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant legal software.
4. In some jurisdictions, completion of the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) may be necessary, especially for roles that involve advocacy or legal practice.
