Introduction:
The New and Amended Product Approval (NAPA) process manages the risk that New or Amended Product or Service design fails to meet the needs of or has the potential to cause detriment to Clients / Customers, The Bank or The Integrity of the markets in which we operate. To ensure all potential risks have been considered and assessed an independent review must be conducted by Functional Areas for all new, amended or withdrawn products, services or payoff changes. Each Functional area is responsible for reviewing and challenging their respective risks associated with
the proposal i.e. in this case model risk.
- Review and challenge all business proposals to identify any potential risks or impact that the proposal might have on model risk
- Building strong working relationships across MRM and outside MRM function and influence key decisions.
- Independently keep a track of all upcoming proposals, maintain confidentiality, chase the stakeholders for responses and escalate wherever necessary

Main duties include:

- Highlight any potential risks or impacts that new or amended proposals give rise to for model risk, the action required to remove it and the control in place to manage it.
- Collaborate with business, other functional areas and IVU to follow an integrated approach for impact assessment
- Clearly record approval commentary that summarises the overall view of model risk for proposals

What will you be doing?
- Keep up to date with regulatory expectations
- Independently review new and amended proposals, post implementation reviews and product reviews to assess impact on model risk while adhering to deadlines
- Review and Challenge the Conduct Risk and Operational Risk severity ratings indicated by the Business
- Use mandatory Aide Memoires (functional questionnaires) and internal portals to document due diligence and approval
- Raise pre or post conditions if the proposal poses a risk and track them.

What we’re looking for:

- Experience in Risk or other parts of Investment Banks: ability to understand Risk and/or banking products (preferably Traded and Treasury products) and explain them at a high level.
- Communication - Strong communication skills. Can produce concise, organized and thoughtful presentations for technical and non-technical audiences

Skills that will help you in the role:

- Project Management - Ability to run projects independently and has a grasp of PM concepts and best practices.
- Experience of or exposure to either Technology or Data Science: Ability to understand, discuss, design and implement solutions.
- Preferred experience or familiarity in the following areas - Traded risk, Pricing, Payoff changes and Treasury Risk.
- Communication - Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Preferred qualifications - CA, MBA, or Engineering.
- Experience with Project Management tools (JIRA, MS Project) and the MS Suite (Word, Excel, PPT, Project, Visio and SharePoint skills)
